Tint prices

I was just quoted $245 from a professional installer to tint a 2003 G35 coupe. I realize tint prices vary by region (I'm in the Philly suburb area) but does that seem a bit high to you guys? He said the $245 would cover the tint itself and the installation and comes with a lifetime guarantee on both.

On a related note...it says on their site that they exclusively use Johnson tint...is that a good brand?

I have Johnson window film tint on my windows as well and the shop that did it only uses johnson. I think it's a very good film for the price. Price wise, the shop that did it usually charges $110 for the non metallic johnson film and $140 for the metallic film, but this is in so. california.

Here's a cut and paste of a post I made a while back:
Here's 45% tint, it's a metallic tint so it has that fuzz to it. My windows actually don't look green, but the camera picked up the silverly gray color as that....

If it wasn't for the fact that my dad likes to sometimes borrow my car, I would have done 20%. But 45% looks pretty classy ad my dad doesn't have to deal with the so cali fuzz...

Here's a post from awhile back:
https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...t=97248&page=3
on page 3 pics of my tint are there and they are better representives of the color in those pics than the ones I just posted above. Above is pretty close to how dark it is...

Just got mine done last week (in SoCal) for $180 lifetime guaranteed. Would've been $130 without the lifetime.

OK I talked to another guy and he said $160 lifetime guaranteed for either Johnson or Llumar tint. Is Llumar better? (Or is that like asking vanilla or chocolate?)

Hey guys, forgive a simple question here. When you say you wanted 20% tint, does that mean 20% darker than normal or only allowing 20% of light to pass? I'm thinking about getting mine tinted but wasn't sure what the rating means.

Thanks!

a 20% tint means that it allows only 20% of light through. 20% is extremely dark, and illegal for passenger vehicles in most, if not all, states.

Edit -
To keep this on topic, $245 for your tints seems really high. That's how much it cost me to tint my Maxima, but that's a 5 window job. Shop around, but remember, lowest price isn't the only factor to consider - go to someone reputable - quality matters most. Oh yeah, and MAKE SURE to be specific that you want the rear window done as ONE PIECE, otherwise you'll have seams all over the rear windshield.
