How to ship wheels

Can anyone give me any tips or suggestions on what's the best way to ship wheels? Do I just go to UPS and let them pack them for me? If I wanna pack them myself, what kind of material should I use? How should I pack them? ..etc.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

when i shipped my rims, i didnt hav boxes so i cut out cardboard pieces to cover the front and back part of the rims, leaving only the tires exposed. taped those pieces of cardboard like there was no tomorrow and had ups come pick it up from my house.

If you go to the UPS Store to have them packed they will gurantee their pack job. In other words if anything gets broken or dammaged they will automatically reimburse you for insured amount. The pack job will be expensive, but the plus is the gurantee. If you pack them, and a UPS investigator deems the job insufficent packing then you are SOL, regardless if you insured them or not. UPS has very stringent packing guidelines, and through experience if you use the packing method as stated above and something gets damaged UPS will NOT reimburse for the damages. I've worked in the industry for 10 years so I know what I am talking about. Protect your investment.

make sure that you put some kind of padding in the front of the rims and an extra piece of cardboard to prevent the rims from getting dinged...

Ya make sure you use padding, i remember working there, and people use to just launch them into the trailer.

yup thats the best way... IF its only rim be very careful on how you wrap them because like i tuold you, most loaders and unloaders dont care, and just let them drop for a 4 ft height.

i'm dealing with shipping wheels as we speak. it's been a major pain to pack them so they won't get damaged. but i'd rather do it myself...

there is a bit of discussion on shipping wheels here: https://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-tires/86130-shipping-rims.html

good luck
