Hey guys, I recently ordered a pair of 06 headlights, and I was about to buy a pair of 6k D2S bulbs. I currently have the ultinon 6k D2R's, but my friend told me that he scratched off the grey/silver lining on that thin wire by the bulb and fitted it into his projectors, (04 STI to 06 STI).. is this safe and does it really work? Thanks for any help/input!

it will work, also make sure to renotch the bulbs...if you look there is a faint outline on the base of the plastic housing where you can notch the bulb either way.

it will work, if you look closely the notch on the d2s n d2r they are opposite side of each other. take the d2r, make a notch similiar to the d2s. i did it to my stock 4300k and you cant even tell the difference. there probaly is a very slight difference but you wont be able to tell.
save yourself some money n time, just mod them n keep it.

on the plastic base you will see a half circle cut out to align the bulb in the housing, on the opposite side of the housing you will see an outline for a notch that makes the bulb universal, dremel it out
