MPG
Re: MPG
Umm.. that's actually pretty good for a first tank. Unless you continually baby the car or have a lot of highway miles, I wouldn't expect much more than that.. especially if your foot develops a little lead after the break-in period.

rarely do i pass 4k, only if not paying attention.
local driving to me is not stop and go, but it isn't true city either.
only REAL highway driving was bringing home from dealer.
in babying the car, haven't driven it in the rain or when the roads are wet.

Re: MPG
first tank 20 mpg... the last two tanks 19.1 & 19.3. 50 % highway with the air on econ. set at 77, or no a/c on at all. We are finally getting a few days of fall in florida. Just under 700 miles.

Re: MPG
I've been following these MPG threads for ages and they still baffle me. Although not anymore, I was thinking for a while that Infiniti may have tweaked the ECU or something in the late 2003 cars and 2004's....but.....so it seems there is still no logical answer as to why some of us get under 20mpg all the time and others, myself included, get upwards of 23-24mpg all the time. Any other theories?

Re: MPG
I doubt there's much difference from one G to the next from the factory. What changes is the amount of lead in the right foot of the drivers and the mods done by them.(which adds to the 'lead factor'. LOL)
For what it's worth I've got 28 mpg's (US gallon) on my Coupe and Sedan b4 but that's all highway and at the speed limit only. So the high mileage is possible but at the expense of all the fun of driving the cars.
When I mix in some fun and some city miles, my mileage is more like 18 to 20.(US)

Re: MPG
perhaps it has to do with the transmission and the sports package. i have a 6MT, thus the sport package...and perhaps this is why i get such low mileage.

Re: MPG
ceteris perebis - all things being equal, a MT should get better mpg than an AT.
but never are all things equal. driver, weather, lead foot syndrome.
Renegar and Gsedanman, you regularly get in the 20's. is that city, mix or hwy. and, is your city really city (ie, ny, LA, chi, etc..) or suburbs

Re: MPG
StudlyMobile, I check mine every tank (hard copy; separate from the Navi). When my mileage is around 20, I'm having some fun, and mixing hwy and city. When it's around 18, more fun (but no burnouts, lol). And no T/jams here in Cambridge .
My 26 to 28 mpg's (US) is strictly all hwy at the speed limit. (boring as hell).
I've done that 3 times now with my Coupe, and twice with my (previous) Sedan, which yielded slightly higher mileage.

Re: MPG
StudlyMobile, I drive a 40/60 (city/hwy) mix almost all the time. The city part is definately city. I work literally in the center of downtown and the traffic due to road construction everywhere is horrible. I absolute worst MPG I've ever gotten was 23.5 mpg. My best has been about 24.9 mpg. These figures do not seem to change no matter how light or hard I drive the car. I have not put Synthetic oil in yet, but I'm not sure it will show much improvement. Those 28mpg hwy runs are what I'd like to see next.
