Im sorry for resurrecting a dead thread but i would like to hear from anybody that has had this happen to them, and if there was any long term damage that was caused to their engines due to the faulty vtc sprocket. My other concern is that i have a very subtle knock sound coming for my drivers side bank, i placed a screwdriver on the cover that is directly over the sprocket and that seems to be where the sound is coming from. I was wondering if a faulty vtc sprocket could also be the cause of this annoying sound i am hearing.

I have had my g35 since october of last year and purchased it with a little over 43k on it and have taken very good care of it since, i brought the car to a local nissan dealer to get it checked out and they determined that it was nothing to worry about. I've been checking my oil religiously and its where it needs to be, so low oil is not the problem.

Anyways ill try to upload a video as soon as possible!
