Hydrolocked coupe worth $7400? Flood damage?
This is a follow up to my other post... our coupe got hydrolock from about 3" -4" of water.
We towed it to Infiniti of Lisle in Illinois. They insist that the car must have sat in at least 12" of water for the past week. No one there believes us that it wasn't, and pretty much laughs in our face about the whole thing. Yesterday they told us the car would be considered flood damaged and this 2003 G35 coupe with 24k miles would only be worth $7400 once they put the new engine (from a 2004 coupe with 14k miles) in.
Today insurance reassured us that this was not the case, the car is worth full value and the title is not affected. Infiniti will not however warranty the replacement engine, so we are still going to sell the car. Tonight, we call the dealer to have them look into some other cars that we might be interested in. The salesman tells us again that the car will only be worth $7400 and they will not even touch it, we drove through at least 12" of water if it had only been 4" then they would have tons of hydrolocked engines. He then suggested we hire a lawyer!
We called carmax yesterday and they said Infiniti was just scamming us, they'd pay at least triple the 7.5k.
Is Infiniti of Lisle trying to screw us over or what?

Yep. Did you have a Cold Air Intake? Any Modifications?
I would probably just let my insurance handle it, if it's flood damaged then they need to another one, or give you the value of the car (he'll i'd probably take that cash and put it as a downpayment for the 08 G35). But that's just me.

thats BS if they think its only worth 7500 with a donar engine. they are trying to scew u over into trading it in, and once you trade it in, they are going to put in a motor from another car and sell it for 25+ anyway. i say go to a performace shop and get them to install a used engine for you.
