Re: Clear Corners

As far as I know, yes, they are legal as long as you have a white or amber bulb in it.

Re: Clear Corners

They come with an amber bulb in them , so when they light up they become amber in color.

Re: Clear Corners

Probably not, I live in California and they are just as strict if they want to be, just remember for marker light amber in front red in rear.

Re: Clear Corners

if you have amber bulbs then you won't get pulled over but if you have white bulbs, you might... with all of the crazy cars I see in queens anyway I don't think it'll be a big issue... I see cars with the underbody lights on all the time on queens blvd... so I don't think the G's clear corners will attract that much attention... unless you have anything but white and amber light in there...

Re: Clear Corners

From what my sister was told when she got pulled over for the clear blinkers on her Prelude, the lights can be only clear. They can't be any of that hyper-white, blue tinted stuff.

Re: Clear Corners

You propably wont get stopped. I haven't yet, I'm in Arizona and have spent time in California. However, the law reads the lights need to have an amber reflector in them. Look at the stock corners, you'll notice a very small rectangular area in the middle, just over the bulb, that's reflectorized. The clear corners have no such reflector, clear or amber. The clears on the other hand have a sort of round clearer area (if that makes sense) above the bulb. This circluar area is very visable. With my DG Coupe the amber lenses looked awful, the clears look great.

Re: Clear Corners

I don't know why, but this is all so difficult for me to understand. So which is which? clear corner lense? or the light bulb inside it? Can I have a yellow bulb with a clear lense? Would that be legal?

Re: Clear Corners

I think you can have the clearcorner lense, but you have to have yellow bulb. I think it depends on where you live too...

Re: Clear Corners

Here's a site (http://fmvss108.tripod.com/statelaws.htm) that has links to a number of official state sites on the issue.

For me (WI), this is what the law states:
347.17 Color of clearance and marker lamps and
reflectors. Whenever a vehicle is equipped with clearance
lamps, sidemarker lamps or reflectors:
(1) Those clearance and marker lamps and reflectors mounted
on the front or on the side near the front of the vehicle shall display or reflect an amber color;
(2) Those clearance lamps and marker lamps and reflectors
mounted on the rear or on the sides near the rear of the vehicle, or on both, shall display or reflect a red color.

I think that means I'm OK.

As for NY, their website was not as easy to find it on. You may also want to check for DMV or DOT website for the information. Could also call them, or local PD, they might also know.

Re: Clear Corners

I live in queens also and have had my clear side markers on since May. Haven't been stopped yet and this is my daily driver. I did leave the stock bulbs in though. If I had to guess I'd say that the clear lenses are illegal.

Re: Clear Corners

As far as I have seen, if a cop wants to bust on ya, he will look and see if the lights have a DOT approval. If they don't, you can be ticketed... As for clear lights in NY, many cars (ie: BMW, MB and Porsche) have em, but they use amber bulbs for their parking. So I guess, as long as it says DOT on the lenses, you shouldnt have a problem...
