Purchasing a used G35
Purchasing a used G35
I'm going to look at a used 2004 G35 6MT with a salvage title. Are there any specific things I should look at to confirm its a genuine 6MT? [ie Engine codes? VIN numbers?]
What are the main differences between the 05 and 04? Should I just wait for a 2005 to come around? I know of the engine and a 18 HP difference.
Thanks in advance!

Look at the engine frame rails and check for damage. Check and make sure all damages parts have been replaced in the front. Find out where the damage was and get a professional to check it out. If the repair was done very well then be prepared to enjoy the car for a few years, but you wont have fun reselling it.
The most important thing you should reconsider is the salvage title and the price you'll pay should be rediculously low. No matter what the condition of the car, if it has salvage title I heard it's worth half price. It wouldn't matter to me too much if it was an '04 or '05. I sure hope you are a mechanic or know good mechanics since the car will not be under warranty. Specific things to look for if it's a 6MT is a clutch pedal, and a shifter with a 6 speed pattern.
Good luck man.

"Rev up" is referring to the 05+ engines, it doesn't apply to the car you are looking at.
If it's a 6MT it will have a stick shift
Other options that "should" be on there are brembo calipers and leather interior

I drove a 2004 6MT G Coupe today and took it to about 5-6k RPMS and heard a high pitch rattling. Is this common for G35's to sound very rice rockety?
Also, the clutch felt like it was grinding when i would switch gears, I'm sure this isn't normal right?
