Friend raced a IS350

Hey guys, my friends both raced each other, one has a IS350 and the other has a '06 Touring 350Z (6MT). Second gear about at about 3k, the Z got beat by a bumper and the pull came at the shift, although my friend with the Z is a good stick driver. I am embarassed I knew that the IS350 is quick, but it wegihts more and has the same horsepower.. what is this? Im really curious to see a third gear roll

Hmm. Doesn't really seem like a fair comparison. The IS350 is auto with manual shift mode through the paddles. From what I've heard, the tranny on those IS350s are incredibly good and quick. Also, it's not fair to say the 350Z is a lighter car. In many cases, coupes come out heavier if not equivalent to sedans because of the heavier reinforced materials they use for structural rigidity.

both of these cars are pretty evenly matched so this race is going to go either way every time

The 350Z is about 200-300 lbs lighter than an IS350. The IS350 has way more horsepower though (dynos about 270hp). Seems about right...I believe they trap higher too (around 103mph).

The 350Z / G35 power levels are overrated. I'd expect a car of even similar weight and quoted power to out-accelerate them.

Get exhaust, headers, intake, bigger injectors, ecu chipped, and short shifter and watch thy selve stop on IS350's! Better said then done, lol. I'd say have you friend get a short shifter and see the difference. You have to be a quick **** to slice through gears properly.
