I feel the shame..
I feel the shame..
Well, I totally blew it..
I'm in my '04 6mt coupe, on a leisurely drive back home about an hour ago. An Audi TT roadster blew by me on the right, and I figure it's late and there's nobody else about, so I drop a gear and mash it and get on his ****. We pulled up to a stop light, I looked around and it's dead out. He's got the top down and just looking straight forward and revs once, so I reved once. I saw the yellow light on the other side to anticipate the green when it switched. He got a better launch on me and, in a flash, pulled a car length ahead. Then I totally missed the shift to 2nd, and he's gone. I had to just back out 'cause I reved for the gear change but missed it and had to let off the throttle. I didn't get a chance to go again with him..
I felt like a total putz..
I guess in my defense, I've only had the car a month. I babied it the first 500 miles, a little firmer up until 1100 miles, and was just slightly over that tonight when I went for it. It was my first time trying a hard launch, and got a little too excited to remember to turn the VDC off..
So, I got stomped by a 225hp TT. He just launched so fast, I wonder if he had some mods. In any case, I blew it. I'll practice launches so if that happens again, I can try and represent my G35c better.
I'm not the sort that will race at the drop of a hat.. it's just it was a TT and I thought I would embarass the guy.. I was the one that ended up embarassed..

Re: I feel the shame..
Don't feel bad. It happens to everyone. I enjoyed a nice friendly up to speed and down with a Vette a couple of days ago. I know for sure that it was from a dead stop he would have crushed me so I just let him go.

Re: I feel the shame..
Man, the Audi TT is easy to beat! They can have a good launch thanks to the Quattro AWD, but they are just not as fast as the G35C, especially the Roadster model. You shouldn't have to turn VDC off to get the right start. But you may have to turn it off if you are gonna take 1st or 2nd gear to redline.
Re: I feel the shame..
Well either way he would have had the dumb TT if he hasn't missed a gear... Oh well nice try, now you kno to practice. =) Next time a TT comes around, I bet you'll blow him off the road.
