6MT or AT? Your 2 cents...

6mt more responsive, but what are your needs. will you be stuck in traffic a lot?
my 6mtC is my pleasure driver. although last 4 cars were sticks, i just bought a new daily driver (sentra) which is AT. they gave me good deal and i figured in 3 years i have to teach my kids to drive (since they WON'T be touching my G)

I've always driven sticks because the average automatic transmission drives me up the wall. The automatic in the G35 is a different beast though, it doesn't mind getting up and going when I ask it to, seems a lot smarter about shifting at the right times, and the manual mode gets me through a lot of the situations where I really like having a stick (driving down a decline, for instance). I probably would never have considered the automatic if I hadn't driven my mother's Lexus SC300 extensively, it had the first automatic transmission I've ever gotten along with.
But, with this purchase I was looking for a hot luxury car that's fun to drive, not so much a raw performance vehicle. Drive them both and see what you like, but be sure and give the auto a chance if you've avoided them for many years like I have. On the same token, I wouldn't let the MT troubles stop you from getting a stick. That's what warranties with free rentals are for.

Actually, there are plenty of haters here, but we've become more polite about it.
My take on it is: in a perfect world, where nobody else is ever allowed to use the road except you and the guy you're racing against, the MT is a no brainer. In Hell, where it's 110 degrees (or snowing), everyone is always packed bumper-to-bumper, and every road goes uphill, I think you'll quite happily settle for the AT with manual mode. Decide which end of the spectrum sounds more like your world, and that's your transmission. Crawling up the Hill in unsure footing with a Boston cabbie parked on your bumper is pretty infuriating for me. But driving the Kang with the top down and nothing to see for 100 miles but the foliage turning is about as good as it gets (if only it had more challenging twisties).
So my solution was to get one of each.
