2009 GT-R or wait till expiration to go TT?

Just getting a feel for what people are planning on doing (if they didn't already have their twin turbo (TT) setup) when the 2009 GT-R comes out.

I'm wondering whether to just wait till the warranty expires and then go TT or to just get the 2009 or 2010 GT-R model when it comes out. Thanks.

IMO... If you're going to go for the GT-R, you'll want to get your order in like... NOW!!! That car is going to be highly sought after and people are already saying they're checking with dealerships and leaving deposits. So as the time comes closer, it's going to happen more and more.

You have your car, it'll be [or is] paid off [or close to it]. So if you like it, why not keep it and paly with it. Make it yours. A TT will cost $4000-$8000 [depending on what stage/intercooler setup/etc...etc], where as that '09 GT-R will be about $70K+dealer markups because it's a first year, HIGHLY desired car and people will pay.

If money is no object and you just want the GT-R THAT badly, then go for it. If money is a consideration and/or or really like your current G, then I say stick with it and TT it. Just a matter of what makes you happy and what you can afford.

Depends on your budget to be honest. The new GT-R is not going to be cheap. I read that it will be somewhere in the 60-65k range

M3 will still hold its own. There are other things about the M3 that makes it a better car.

BMWs are well made. The GTR is probably going to have lots of problems. Maybe not until 2nd or 3rd Gen will it really starts to shine and comparable to the M3.

Yeah I'm talkin about the luxury stuff.

The GTR is like the WRX STi or Evo(performance oriented) in the 70k price range. Or a more expensive japanese corvette.

It should smoke the M3 on the track.

I'm hoping the GT-R DOESN'T go the way of Luxury. If they do, then switch it to the Infiniti line, or offer up a G45 or something. GT-R always has, and IMO, should STAY performance oriented. Like you said at the end... it's more like a Japanese Corvette Z0-6, and they're testing it against a Porshe 911 [which various pics and videos show] so why compare it to a BMW when it's CLEAR that's not even it's target?

Are you kidding me, that car will be 65-70k over here sterling, surely our robbing government aint gonna put that much duty and tax on it.
It will be around the cost of a new porche 911 shape, like the carrera 4 or whatever they call the new one. So are you saying that 65-70k $ over there gets you the top of the range porche, just interested.

The new porche GT3 over here is like 80k £ which is about 135k $

Guys sorry to say but the next model M3 coming will have a V8 engine, and its been confirmed that the new skyline will have the 3.8L TT and not the V8 that rumors were saying. Who knows with the new 335i pulling the numbers it does just what the new M3 has in store.

It's more like how the Chevy Corvette Z06 is compared against the Porshe, Ferrari [as seen here for example] or other exotices at 1/2 or 1/3 of their price and still holds it own. Nissan looks to be going that route. Offering a [roughly estimated] $70k car that can compete/beat cars costing $90k-$140k. I don't see why that's such a hard thing to accept.

If I had the money, I'd definately get the GT-R but, if money was in any way an issue, I'd just TT and upgrade my current G.

the rumor is that the new m3 will have a v8 with about 400hp. Nissan's target isnt the bmw m3, it is the 911 turbo.

If you're going to go turbo without going all the way to a GT-R, I would wait for the '08 Coupe. The new VQ is beefier than the current VQ and will hold up to turbocharging better.
