sorry if this is a lame newbie question but im new to 6mt my old g35 was auto.


i have 1500 miles on my car, i should hit 3500 within a month or two, should i switch to synthetic oil?

if so what oil should i get and what are the benefit for synthetic in a mnual tranny

 

its been covered many of times.. you could go for another round with regular oil if you like. i change mines to full synthetic around 6.5k miles. im using mobil1 synthetic + nissan oil filter.

 

I changed my oil @ 1000 miles with mobil one & factory oil filter and plan to change it every 3k miles. I dont care if thats overkill, its just my way of doing things.

 

Are you asking about the gear oil in the transmission or the engine oil? Engine oil I would leave the first oil in there until 5000 or 6000 miles and then switch to a good full synthetic oil like Mobile 1. For the transmission, dont change that oil for a long time (~30k miles), and unless you are brave, just replace it with what you get at the dealer parts counter.

 

my car has 4k miles now.. been using mobil1 + nissan oem filter since the first oil change.

amsoil 5-30 full syn, use nissan 65f00 filter change filter every 3000 miles .. change oil every 20k.. been using this stuff since 87. u wont find abetter oil or a way to save hard earned cash..

 

I've been running Mobil One 5W30 Full Synthetic since I did my first oil change at about 3K miles, along with Purolator Pure One Filters.

On my next real oil change(next spring, since I'm storing the car for winter in a few weeks on a batch of fresh Mobil-1), I'm going to try out German Castrol Syntec 0W-30 since everyone has been raving about the UOA results when used with the VQ.

 

I been using Mobil one synthetic since 5K miles (first oil change). Once I switched to regular oil at the dealership, man that was the worst mistake i did. The car felt so sluggish and was not responsive at all. After that I never looked back.
