G35x to a G35 6mt

Well, I went to the dealer the other day to check out the new G35 sedan.
I'd seen it before last summer, I just wanted to have another "look" .

I really liked the X for tahoe trips and didn't intend on buying or trading.
However, I never really got into it. The automatic killed it for me. Great car, great power, a little loose around the edges.

However, it turns out they had a few G35 coupes as usual. I've always thought to myself, did I make a mistake in not buying a Coupe? Call it buyers remorse, but every time I see a coupe I think it might be one of the best looking Japanese designs of all time. To these eyes, it still looks fresh after all these years.
I digress, I made the mistake of taking another test drive in a 6-speed coupe. Every option except rear steer and aero kit, in DG.
Bummer. I walked away with a new car, while my silver 2005 x headed to the used car row.
Whoa, couldn't be happier. This car makes me want to drive, where the other car was simply an appliance, albeit a very good appliance.

The car's steering, suspension, power and feel are a couple of steps ahead out of the box. But, you already knew that. However, coming from the sedan, it's everything I expected or rather wanted.

Here is a pic of her on the maiden voyage down HWY 1 to Laguna Seca for last weekend's ALMS race. Couldn't have picked it up at a better time.

Sorry for the long and familiar post.

Here is a pic from the same race last year- Camera phone and car have both improved.

Beautiful!

Congrats!

Now get some Tints

Also, not to give you more remorse, but It would have been better to get a 1 year lease until the 08 coupe arrives.

Congrats once again!

Thanks.
I know, I'll be back there at the dealer again.......Honestly, I almost waited.
This was an emotional purchase, though I got hammerd a little.

Z-Tube and JDM Batt cover came off the X and were on the new car day one.
Clear corners are in the mail should be here tomorrow, Transparent brassiere goes on Thursday, Tint this weekend.

After that I'll drive the car for a bit and figure what larger mods "need" to be done.

I've had a good experience the X.

I think this 2005 Autoweek review sums it up for me:

The G35 coupe is the kind of car that compels you to wake up early on a balmy Saturday morning and head for the coastline. Or the nearest country road. Or the corner market. It really doesn’t matter; the G35 puts a grin on your face during even the shortest jaunts. The sensuous shape fires up my adrenal glands every time I look at it, while my brain telegraphs my hands and feet: Must. Drive. Now. This Infiniti is comfortable and confidence-inspiring, with a less tooth-rattling ride than its 350Z sibling and steering that feels lighter yet still quick and responsive. In my three days of driving this tester, the car never put a wheel wrong. As far as driving fun and involvement go, I’d put this up against anything short of the 330i with the pricey performance package, and even then I’m not completely sure the BMW would get my vote. Of course, I have not had the pleasure of driving the new 3 yet, and I suspect BMW is about to reset the bar. Or perhaps Lexus will with the new IS. How will Infiniti respond? The fact that it must—and will from such a strong baseline—is good news for all.

Congrats-welcome to the 'dark side' of coupedom. unless you have a couple of kids and/dogs this is the way to go, nothing like the anticipation of a canyon run in the 6mt

Thanks All- I can see how an automatic G coupe would be rewarding as well.

Trey, As you know, there are advantages to both. The sedan is huge inside, and your car still performs like a sports car. Forget the olden days Maxima, the 6mt4door is the true 4DSC.
Your sedan is probably way sharper than my X was. The steering on the X was way different than a normal sedan let alone a sport. Felt much heavier than either the normal sedans or coupes.
I drove a pal of mine's brand new FX 35 the other day and it almost felt more sporty than the X for some reason. That being said the X had ***** of the line and through 2nd, charged in the snow and was a super spacious inside. The steering was the let down and the lack of mods available made it tough for me to want to walk the mile.
Looking at the mods/specs on your car, I don't feel too bad for you

I expect I'll see you out here next year at this time with an 08 Coupe with mods.

Negative on kids or dogs. Hey I can drop the seat in the coupe and fit my bike in there without removing both wheels !! Couldn't do that in the sedan.

Seriously eh? The dealer was obviously quite happy as well.
6-speed !! So much f'ing happier. I even like the stock 19s, at the moment.
Not sure how long that will last.

Hey where should I get the tint done? I've used a few different retailers in the past, I just don't want the car to smell funky like it did after the last install- Recomendations?

Let me know when you are ready to sell your rims.

I love the DG without the spoiler--that's what I got!

It looks soooo clean.
