Don'tdo it. If you want a m3 get one, but get one with less miles.

I'll make it hard on you and say "DO IT". Have it checked out by BMW. I currently have a bmw coupe with 98k miles on it. No major problems with it. I had to replaced the brakes, a sensor, wheel bearing, and a window regulator. I did everything myself except for the wheel bearing. I found all the DIYs on the bmw forums and it was quite easy. Its not expensive if you do it yourself. Good luck.

What year coupe do you have. Me and my friends have had every thing that can go wrong happen from sub frame tears to control arms and rear shock mounts. You have got to be the luckiest three owner in the community. Not being a *** or anything I am serious.

An M3 is a good way to be looking, but 97K? I don't think so.. how about new or newly used?

I'd never do the trade for the mere fact of the high mileage... even thought BMW is reliable they always haved stupid little problems to worry about with that kinda mileage... not worth it in my eyes... Try comparing book values

My advice sell the g buy a rev up and mod it a few mods and you will ahve a M3 for less money. Trust me a BMW without a warranty is a money pit. With BMW you don't just fix the problem once and you are done they come back often after you replace the stock parts.
Getting horsepower from an M3 intake? Hahah. Sure there is AFE and Dinan, but who buys those anyway? Exhausts cost the same as those for the G. Springs/coilovers cost the same. Wheels/tires for the M are actually cheaper due to the smaller tire sizes and the fact that you'd have to be nuts to put 20's on an M3 (unlike the G). Front lips and stuff cost $200-300 for the replicas, last time I checked an OEM G35 front lip was $324. So again, what exactly is more expensive?

F/I is a totally different ballgame, but you would need a built motor for a G35 to keep up with a stage II/III M3 which is a high 11s-low12s car...

You can put a gazillion dollars in a G35 and it will never be an M3 simply because it was built for a different purpose. My advice: take both cars for what they are, in pure stock form. Don't rely on mods to turn them into something they are not. Mileage tells you nothing about how a car has been treated and maintained, and M3's are high maintenance vehicles. That being said, there is no way I would own an early model SMG with close to 100K miles. SMG = too much microsoft.
