True, the STI will toy around with us from about 0-80mph then we can toy around with them from 80-130 on the freeway. The STI and EVO have no upper MPH power.

This is if you are racing on the street. Go to the track and its a whole different story. The street and track are 2 way different ball games. I can race a modded chevy cobalt SS on the track and beat him by atleast 3/4 of a second and by about 3 cars. On the street we will be neck and neck i will pull about half a car on him. On the track the All wheel drive helps but not enough to notice. Race tracks (atleast good ones) spray a chemical down that is litereally like super glue and it makes your car stick like a ****. If i dont burn out and floor it on the track from a stop i wont even get a little spin.....so it just depends on where your racing.

 

well I'm saying track or street the wrx is faster stock vs stock with equal drivers because the AWD DOES makes a difference. Only for 1/4 mile. After that the G will whoop it because of larger displacement and the AWD has AWD drag on higher speeds.

Again, Car and Driver 0-60 5.4s and 1/4 mile 14.2sec

I guess now we're debating how much AWD launch makes a difference. I think its alot. Without it the WRX will probably get upper 14s. AWD gives a much lower 60'

 

btw it was 2001 car and driver. Which is the WRX won car of the year by road & track magazine.

 

car and driver also test there cars in death valley where everything is perfect. When i raced a fairly stock one (BOV and maybe air intake) i beat him by atleast 4 cars at the track last night....and look at my mods.

EDIT: The 2 cars are 0-60 at about .2 difference (WRX being faster), but the G has better acceleration from 60-100 so the G is faster im pretty sure.

Okay. SO instead of comparing numbers from different magazines and websites and what your aunt's uncle's dog's pile of crap told you last weekend, stop comparing what you don't know. i owned a WRX for 4 years before my current 06 G. Turbo lag can be completely avoided and my launches in the WRX were AWD-INCREDIBLE off the line..however, after 60 my stock flat 4 was all pooped out. This is where the G shines. In the end, it will be a drivers race with the WRX, if properly driven, getting the jump off the line...

(and do not tell me, whoever you were, the STI is a drivers race...put the same driver in both cars and the STI will crap on our G's)

I dont think anyone mentioned that the STI and g35 is a drivers race EXCEPT after 80MPH that car has nothing after 80MPH considering i race one about 4 times a week on the freeway on the way to school (my neighbor has one). from 0-80 he will hand my *** to me though no questions asked and by then he is to far ahead to catch him, but if we start from a roll at 80MPH then its different i will walk him to about 1 car lenght by the time we hit 130. Thats from experience. Stock vs stock on the WRX its close, i bet it is a drivers race. I never had the chance to race one when i was stock. If you look at numbers though the WRX is about .2-.3 faster 0-60 which is about half a car. If we have the upper MPH advantange and he is half a car ahead of us that means by the time we hit 120 we are going to be about 1 1/2-2 car lenghts on him...

 

LOL like I said I'm speaking from experience. Sorry to dissappoint you guys, I love my G don't get me wrong.

the WRX is a FUN and faster car. Looks ugly but it is fun.

Again the launch is the advantage on drag. Around track, I dunno probably the G because of better powerband and suspension set up.

You compared modded wrx vs modded G. But do you know that on a WRX bov and intake doesn't do JACK for a WRX?? As a matter of fact that these two mods we known to not add power unless you have a larger turbo.

The only fair modded wrx vs your G is the wrx must have a stage 2. which is just a ECU programming which allow a more aggressive setting, higher boost, a/f ratio and Turbo back Exhaust. Oh yeah and boost controller those things are sweet. daily drive just set it 16 psi. Track time 20 psi and get mid 13s

Stage 2, the WRX will blow a G

Stage 3, the WRX will completely own it!

I agree 120 mph the G will whoop a wrx. I don't anyone here is debating the G is going to lose from 80 -140 mph to a wrx.

Did you know air intake on our cars do nothing unless its tuned? Did you know that a stage 3 WRX vs a G35 is not even in the same catagory? Did you know that a turbo G will crap on a stage 3 wrx? I mean lets get serious everyone is talking about a drag race here....no one is talking about rally racing and track racing. We are simply talking str8 line......

 

Yeah I've read about that whole which intake does what the best and it actually doesn't do anything because infiniti's stock intake was designed well blah blah blah!

but anyways yeah sometimes I miss my wrx because its just different kind of car.

stage 3 wrx will be about 550 hp. Garret turbo, turbo back exhaust, up pipe, front mount intercooler, etc etc.

These are bolt ons.

my bro has a wrx 06 and my cuzin has an sti 06. both are reallly fast. i use to have an 04 g that had intake exhaust now i have an 06. in either case, they will win, trust me...those cars are fast. i use to talk alot of **** about them until i actually sat in one. you guys are right, the driver does matter...but ud be surprised how quick those "boxes" are.

 

Yeah I think the STi(stock) will own any G(stock)on drag, track or water.

WRX will only own 0-60 or 1/4 mile. but not on rolls period. Anything else the WRX will lose whether is style, handling(dry) etc.

 

yeah, seriously, its so annoying when people talk as if they've owned both the WRX and G. Nismo you are arguing about numbers above 80 mph. I thought this thread was about a G v. WRX stock for stock. You have to look overall, in most daily driving situations. Not 80mph plus or on a course. On a highway, red light to red light, the WRX will most likely always out perform our G's...unless he/she cannot drive it for ****. Its a V6 that needs to be wound out to near redline every gear for performance, vs. a flat four turbo charged engine. Rev the WRX to 2.5k and your turbo is near full spool at launch..The WRX, while not the most aesthetically appealing is a QUICK, fun car. I suggest all those who hate on them, to take one for a test drive. I miss the driving experience, but not the exterior or interior design.
