Do you all feel like the G35 pulls harder when you shif it manually or leave it in drive? If you all race it on the highway and shift it manually what RPM do you all hold it at before flooring it around. I usually hold it at 3000-3500 when im gonna race on the Highway but have to shift like 500rpm before the redline because it dose'nt shift firmly. what rpm do you all shift at?

The car pulls harder when it is in manual mode for sure...no questions asked. If you are on the highway and you are doing above 65 MPH and you want to race you should be in 3rd gear. If you punch it third gear should take you all the way to about 97-98 MPH or 6700RPMS.

For daily driving i usually leave it in drive unless i want to screw around a little and **** old people off...then i use manual mode.

will it mess up the tranny if you manually shift it alot or is it okay to do it daily? I heard it is not good to shift the auto tranny alot manually especially downshifting alot, but that it was okay to do this stuff every once in a while. is that true?

Ive heard rumors about that on other cars. As for the G i highly doubt it if your doing it incorrectly. The car does downshfting for you when you are stopping.(which im sure you already know) Ive started to become accustom to shifting when driving on the highway. I do it when racing or just messing around to get the handle of shifting. IMO i doubt it will mess the tranny up if you do it correctly.

im sure someone can give a def answer to this.

Manually shifting the car can not do any more harm. The physical process is the same in the gearbox whether you start it or the ECU chooses.

However, shifting at higher speeds or higher torque levels causes more "wear & tear". High speed and high torque are the only conditions where I manually shift.

yea u definately ware the tranny more when u manually shift all the time and if u always drive like an a$$hole but thats why we all have warranties. Just take it in and have them replace it... anyways i normally redline it when i shift... for some reason a lot of people say they shift at 6500 because it takes a while for the tranny to change gears, i dont know i normally shift at 6700, 6800 and it shifts almost immediately right before fuel cut off... i have the J-spec auto tranny which is different from the 03-04 anyone know if that could be the reason? any other 05-06 experience this?
