Best performance

Hi guys, i am very new to cars i own a 2003 g35 coupe MT. After putting in some miles into my car i am finally ready for some mods. I am an extreme newb at this so i need your help. I do not want a TT or Supercharger so plz dont tell me to get one. Ok so bascially i need to know how to improve my whp and torque without a TT or supercharger, first i plan on the Z-tube with a K&N filter, than Plenums (i need to know which ones and wat size would be best), Sway bars(also need to kno which ones), exhaust( going with the HKS but its crazy expensive), Test pipes(also need to know which ones), New rims/tires(anyone want to tell me the best size rims for performance), and from there i am lost what else can i do to enhance my performance. I thank all of u that give me ur input.

I started with Injen CAI and Megan Racing test pipes. Then I lowered with Tein S-Techs and added Hotchis sway bars. That helped a lot in the corners. Just recently I have done a Kenetix composite racing plenum, that helped the car pull much harder in 4th, 5th, and 6th gear. And I have also added a Stillen rear strut bar. I haven't had a chance to test it on the track but it seems to have helped a lot on the street. I plan on going TT in the future, but like you, I didn't want to do it right away but I still wanted performance. I dynoed 255 hp and 247 tq at the wheels before the plenum and I hope to get 10 hp out of it.

Well first the z-tube and k&N filter comes in one size , The plenum is what ever Brand YOU think is best. Everyone has diff opinions on that.

For Sways you can go either Hotchkiss or Stillen. I would say Stillen cause thats what most people have. Test Pipes are Test Pipes so make sure you get resonated ones to cut down on the Raspiness.

Wheels/Tires are so broad that everyone will tell you just do a search. What ever you like will do. Stock tires are heavy enough so just about any wheel setup will do you just. Theres alot of Volk fans on here that will def tell you go that route. Wheels are an expensive venture so what ever you want to get is really up to you.

And as for any other mods to get your car going faster....don't bother...all you can do is get just about every bolt on out there. Once you do that get an ECU reflash or UTECH. My money is on the UTECH...after all that your pretty much done besides going FI.

Definitely a good point. I'm in the same boat as you Mike; I've got an 03 6MT and I'm finally ready to start doing some mods. If you do the research you begin to realize that this process can begin to get very pricey very quick, and in a lot of cases the ratio of price to performance gain is a little too high for my comfort.

I used to be focused on the performance route too, but I'm finding myself increasingly swaying towards more of a balance between performance and appearance as it seems like those creature comforts and looks upgrades are more valuable on a daily basis. For what it's worth, here's my (very) temporary game plan for upgrades along with their intended effect. I'm trying to shoot for ~$500 in upgrades every couple months to keep the budget within reason.

Phase 1
UT Chrome Z Tube (mild performance, but mostly appearance and sound)
NISMO Oil Cap & Radiator Cap (pure appearance)
Paint engine cover and battery covers (pure appearance)
Fix a few dings here and there (pure appearance)

Phase 2
MREV2 (performance)
Stillen HFA (mild performance but mostly sound)

Phase 3
Stillen sway bars
Tint

Beyond
Rearview camera (TVandNav2go unit + camera)
MD 5/16" Copper ISO Thermal Spacer
UTEC (to compensate for A/F changes from spacer + MREV2)
Exhaust system (thoroughly lost on which one to buy right now)

That probably comes to somewhere between $4-5K.
