some people are saying you should powder coat it so that it stays. Do u think it would make much of a difference?

You cannot powder coat it, powdercoating = heat, and the grill = plastic, so the grill = melted!! :0) Yea i thought about it too before I realized the grill was plastic.

I have an IP with a painted grill. I sanded until the finish was dull, then I used a self-etching primer. You have to use a self-etching primer if your are lazy and not going to sand to the plastick.

I first used gloss black with a clear coat. That did not look right, so I re-sanded and went semi-flat (yes, semi-flat). It looks like the way it should have come from the factory. Matches perfectly with the black trim. And the crome emblem is really pronounced.

However, I do get chips every once and a while.

I went semi-flat too with a couple coats of clear. I have a BS and it looks like a pretty good match to the lower mesh grills

What is self etching primer? I got some black automotive primer... I duno what the diff is. Either way, grill looks good, although when I put it back I scratched up the grill turning those weird clips..... I ended up ripping them off with pliers because they I couldnt get the grill on.. the grill is still held on by 5 little push clip things and clips to the bumper, so I think its fine.

Semi-flat = semi gloss? I used semi gloss and it looks great.

Which Clips did you cut off Jining? the ones along the bottom which hook it in to the bumper? You can reach in and seat them in with your fingers with one hand and push in with your other... Shoulda PM'd me on that one bro... Looks great man, you hooked it up!

Semi-Gloss Krylon is correct ... Lol, I dont even use clear coat on mine... It makes touching it up sooo much easier... Just sand the rockchips and shoot! It looks GREAT even w/ no clear and the Krylon!
