crazy stealerships

hey guys,

so i just called the service dept. at my dealership (jim coleman infiniti of

maryland) and asked them what would void the warrenty on my 06 coupe

and they said anything that goes into the engine will and anything out will

not. So i asked specifically if a ztube and pop charger would and they said it

would but a new exhaust system would not! hahaha they must be smoking.

not only that they said if i ran over a pot hole and got a dent in my rim they

would not cover it and it would be insurance. any sort of wire splicing for

audio set up will also void. so all in all they cover ****.

anyone actually have their dealership do something for them?

o yea sorry for long post, had to vent

I think they're right on all fronts though the burdeon is one them to prove the modification lead to the defect.

Why on earth would they pay for a dented rim from a pot-hole? They're 100% right on that one. If you have electrical problems after adding an aftermarket stereo, they are within their rights to point that out and determine if that's the cause.

The car was designed a certain way. Change or interfere with any of it, and it's no longer sold or functioning in the same manner as original.

Yeah as long as your mods don't cause the problem, they'll most of the time do it...

Dealership's cover plenty, my local dealer basically replaced all the wiring in my car because I had a short that caused everything to stop working (windows, seats, power door locks etc)

They also replaced my transmission, flywheel, and threw in a brand new clutch all under warranty

Is powertrain warranty longer than standard warranty? I have about 66k miles. I kind of want to get my tranny replaced? If it's still under warranty, can I go in and say that the chattering noise annoys me, and sometimes it's hard to get the car into the different gears. What was wrong with yours?

wrong...magnusen moss warranty act puts the burden of proof on the dealer to show that a modification was the cause of any problem to your car.

well **** what could I say? I mean I would like a new tranny. I can't just go in there saying that I hate the rattling because they will probably just tell me that it's "normal"

Just tell them its hard to shift gears and it rattles... I took the tech with me and showed him the gear grinding when I drove the car, and they took care of it

Not if you bought the tire/wheel protection package.
