No, I want it to be in the avatar with NO background, nothing, all you see is the image and that is it.

Well thats easy, when you create a new file in Adobe Photoshop, make the background transparent, then cut/paste that little guy into the image... make sure you trace around him to select just the guy

are you trying to create an image without a background?? if so, you can't do that with photoshop or jpeg/gif files (to my knowledge)

you can do that with PNG files... try Macromedia Fireworks

Don't have PS on this computer, so I can't really go step by step for you, but generally when you create a blank file, it asks you to choose WHITE BACKGROUND or TRANSPARENT

I think you should ask Texasscout and this is what you'd get if you choose transparent background:

Can't you just put up a pic of a half naked girl? hehe

This does not seem to work either. I traced out the image, created a new document and made it transparent, saved it as a JPEG, and put it as an avatar, and once again, the white background stayed? Am I doing something wrong?

Right click to save...

Takes 10 seconds to do: Open it in Photoshop, delete the white, save as a gif with transparency checked.

Thanks for trying, however, this did not work either. Please try for youself or anyone eligible to have an avatar. You will see, the grayish background and square still remains. Anyone else?

Are you trying here? I thought you had to be a Premier Member to be able to add an avatar.

You have to remove the background and saved as either a gif or png (no jpegs) if you want a transparent background. If that doesn't work then the forum you're trying to add it to is changing the picture so no matter what anyone does to the picture it will not work.

[edit]Nevermind, after re-reading your first post, I don't understand what you want to do anyway so I'm probably wrong.[/edit]
