I have the Hankook Ice Bear 300's 225/50/17 front and 225/55/17 rear. No problems with the VDC at all. The tires are V rated so they can handle the speed (not that you would ever want to test the limit in the winter). I have found the sidewalls to be soft compared to the OEM 245/45/18 Michelin Pilots. That means the G will not be as sharp or firm in hard cornering and the overall handling is a bit mushy. But this is winter driving so you probably won't be pushing the G all the much. I never got stuck or lost control so they are very capable in the snow, slush and ice. I would buy them again. I wouldn't recommend going beyond 225 since a wider winter tire does not perform as well in deep snow. I am in southern Ontario Canada and we have a pretty good amount of snow here - sometimes a few feet in one snowfall.
Hope this helps.

Highly recommended
I've had the Ice Bears on for three winter seasons with no problem. These snow rated tires make very little road noise and treadwear is good so you can be rolling on these for awhile unless you're doing burnouts. For the price of these tires, you can't go wrong. I mounted a set on my 18" stock rims keeping the original tire size. Located in Southern Ontario with trips to snow heavy Montreal.
