Quick radar question (close thread after answer)

Searched couldn't find info I was looking to obtain.

I need a picture or something that shows how I hardwire the wires to the Cigarette adapter, like how to splice the wires or whatnot.

Not sure on that process, need some help in details.

Thanks.

Nick

hmm? invisicord isn't tech savvy at all. no need to open anything up or "splice wires." u just buy the cord then plug the two prongs into the slots in the power cord for the rvm, then plug the other end into the unit. easy hardwire even for a dumb@$$ like me lol looks real clean too

Yeah, there's absolutely nothing simpler than getting the Invisicord. I originally thought of going through the A-pillar and splicing the wire, but it's not necessary. I just got the invisicord. It's literally a "plug and play" type solution, for $15.

Use these things. Pull the cover over the stick off and you can get at the ash tray. I am in the process right now. Invisicord is cool if you are cool with it on top, but I need the remote mute switch close by, so invisicord doesn’t get me much.

Actually, I would expect the Invisicord would tap right into the harness that goes to the back of the lighter as well. Any place you have a harness with the factory wires exposed from the back should work. I have had customers tap into overhead console lighting harnesses in the past.

How can you hardwire a radar if you dont have the Homelink mirror. Where do you tap into? I want to use Mike's mount and route the wire under the headliner .

with the invisicord, it seems easy to get power to the detector unit... but what if you want to use the external speaker (since the x50 is so damn quiet)? does that complicate matters?

Turn down the radio or change the sound from STD to loud. I can always hear mine. Not to sound old and wise, but if your radio is loud enough to overcome the loud setting, you will be really hard of hearing in a few years.

Then take it from the 3.5 mM jack down the A pillar to the speaker. Not too bad, apparently the pillar "pops off"....I havent tried to take mine off yet.
