Tiptronic bad for transmission?
Tiptronic bad for transmission?
Hi I was wondering if you guys ever switch it from the tiptronic/manual shift mode to the normal AT mode when it's inbetween gears. Like when I accelerate to 4th speed, I then switch it to the normal AT mode...how bad is this to my car? any comments appreciated
its not bad at all. the car is designed to switch modes at any given time, obviously you wouldnt want to drive around redlining in tiptronic but anything else with an auto is basically foolproof.

i think if it was really bad then nissan would have made some sort of locking feature so that you can switch over to tip while driving
but thats not the case so yeh
The only thing that is bad for at trany is when you switch it into reverse while you are going 90 mph. And even then it will not switch. So you are safe.

It's great for holding in gear when going through twisties, etc. and 'playing racer' but you will never shift as cleanly as it will in auto mode.
Using it all the time will be probably be harder on your gas mileage than your transmission.
