Tried to change to my winter tires and...

we got the rear wheels on okay, then when i removed the front ones, there's this little gold piece sticking out and wouldn't allow the wheels on in the front. the gold piece was sticking out in the middle of 2 of the lugs, and wasn't movable at all..does anyone know what that is and if i can take it off or what i can do? i hav an 06 5AT, and tried to take off my oem 19's and putting on 17's.

its there so you dont mix up your rear 19s with your front 19s. you can take it off and have no problems. you dont need it. just use a ratchet to remove it.
