L to H is how many quarts of oil?

A quick question, how many quarts of oil is between L and H on the dipstick? I'm about 500 miles past the 3750 oil change interval now and the oil level is halfway between L and H. Should i just wait until i bring it in or should i bother filling it up?

I'm guessing about 3/4 - 1 quart which is not critical at all. If you plan on doing the change soon, just leave it..

Driving with the level anywhere in the cross-hatch area is fine.

It's truly a guess... From other cars, and from the feedback here, I've always assumed L - H indicated a range of approx 1 quart. However I just changed my oil and only a little over 3 qts drained out, plus what may have been in the filter, so there was probably less than 3.5 qts in the engine. I read the dipstick before draining and it was right around the 1/4 mark.

I parked on a level surface, my garage, and let the car sit for 10 minutes before reading the dipstick... no smudges or drips. Right around the 1/4 mark so I thought I was maybe 3/4 of a quart, but in actuality it was closer to 1.5qts low. Could the thatched area really be reflecting a range of 2 quarts?

^^^Hummm...that seems kinda weird. Can't explain what happened in your case.
Mine at L mark always goes back to F when 1 qt added.

Wow, that is strange. I've never come across a L to H of more than a quart.
Might be out there, I've just never seen it...

I'll have to check that out on mine next fill.

Okay, well that's kind of what i figured that anywhere between the L and H mark should be "OK" to drive with.

From my experience usually that area is about 1 quart also, 2 quarts seems like an awful lot.

How many..................?

My G35 coupe takes five quarts when I change oil.
That includes the mini-filter......it's sooo small why
bother.......haha On our twisted dip stick from L
to H is one quart, although mine has never seen L.
