Driving with the level anywhere in the cross-hatch area is fine.

I parked on a level surface, my garage, and let the car sit for 10 minutes before reading the dipstick... no smudges or drips. Right around the 1/4 mark so I thought I was maybe 3/4 of a quart, but in actuality it was closer to 1.5qts low. Could the thatched area really be reflecting a range of 2 quarts?

I read the dipstick before draining and it was right around the 1/4 mark.

Might be out there, I've just never seen it...
I'll have to check that out on mine next fill.
