Throttle Body Experience

Three weeks ago I noticed that when i came to a stop and pushed in my clutch the revs would rise up then fall almost to zero causing the car to

shudder/stumble...During a warm start up the car would almost die as well...I read that maybe it was a dirty maf...I cleaned the maf but it didnt

help...Tried doing a battery disconnet, that didn't help either...So i took it to a family friend who is a mechanic...He cleaned the throttle body for me with

throttle body cleaner...There was a lot of carbon buildup...He cleaned the throttle body while it was still on the car, he just removed my z-tube...I

started the car up and drove it around...The problem was solved...He told me that i should take it off at home and clean it better...So i went home

disconnected it and cleaned it really well...I started the car up and it was idling at 1k rpm!!! The check engine light also came on after i drove it around

a bit...I then tried all of the throttle body relearn procedures (i'm a professional at this now)...The idle relearn somewhat helped but it wouldn't

stick...I hate all this computer controlled crap...After a week I took it into the dealer...I thought it was gonna cost an arm and a leg, but luckily my car was

still under warranty...It took 1hr for them to recalibrate the ecu (normally $140) and my car was back to normal...Now my car runs better than when i

first got it...No more stumble/shudder...Alright so basically if your car is experiencing the same symptoms as mine was, clean the throttle body while

it's still on the car...Sorry for the long post

if you unplug your battery you can touch it...if its plugged in it will do what happened to yours and you can clean it without touching it if you take if off the plenum...the best way to clean it is to disconnect the battery, remove the tb, and clean both sides and around the butterfly

Alright maybe I am just dumb but you guys are crossing up everything so can i get someone to tell me what needs to be done to clean the throttle body. Correct me if I am wrong...

Disconnect the battery
Disconnect the TB clean both sides
Put it back on connect it back up
connect the battery and drive it.

okay...you can do it like that but you might have to get it reset/recalibrated by the dealer because your ecu might get out of whack...

from my experience disconnect the battery...disconnect the intake tube...leave the TB on the car now you can see the TB butterfly...just spray

the TB cleaner in there and wipe away the dirty liquid...and do it a few times...you can move the butterfly while you clean it too...also do not

disconnect the TB wire...if your TB is dirty, after the cleaning, you'll notice a huge difference...and one more thing, if your computer does get

out of whack, do a 12hr battery disconnect...i spoke to 3 other members that had a problem with the idle after the cleaning (we all removed the TB from the

car when cleaning which probably caused it to get out of whack) and they did the 12hr battery disconnect which cured the problem...if that doesn't fix it

then your gonna have to take it to the dealer like i did...but trust me it's worth it...
