exhaust drumming
exhaust drumming
For anyone who has fitted a high power exhaust ,did anyone manage to stop the exhaust noise drumming in the back of the car. Is it best to use 'Dynamat' or some kind of exhaust wrap. If any of these two were used then how much material and where did you fit it to make the interior quieter ?

The rear of these cars are not insulated well. Complete car dynamatting will also not resolve it. I've done the roof, entire floor, trunk, firewall, doors and pillars, and everywhere in between. When I was testing exhaust systems, and had those that droned, it never made a difference.
Sorry...Rick

lol...that you Tom??
JustJ here
Think I mentioned that the Injen track edition exhaust does have droan awhile back on 6mt.
It can get sometimes annoying and actually thought of the same thing with Dyno matting.
But I've learned to just drive in a lower gear to keep the rpm's higher and out of the droan range.
Wife stills hates it, haha...and I tell her every time, then good thing it's not your car!!
I have used the droan to my advantage at times...when the wifey talks too much...hehe...and it seems to work
.
Good to see you over here on Driver...a late welcome I guess

Its not so much as a droan its more like the whole back is vibrating, anyhow i checked underneath and its not touching the bodywork, i even welded 2" to extend the tails (just behind the ti tips so not to show) as the tails were under my Impul rear spoiler slightly and i thought the sound waves might be hitting the spoiler causing it to drum but still doing it. I have ordered a dynamat bulk pack and will fit it the weekend if that dont work i found a company in the uk that does an exhaust wrap which binds around the boxes and pipes. One way or another i gotta get the volume down or my wifes gonna loose all her teeth from the vibration
Its a shame because the growl is perfect outside expecially when you pull in and out of petrol stations
Anyhow nice to talk to you again i will let you know the result.
