Accident - Insurance - G35 Buy

Ok so I was saving up money and was going to trade my car in for a G35. I've been working a long time to save up and trade in my current car. I have a 2000 Maxima and I ended up totaling it in a rear end accident. Brakes locked when I tried to brake going into a traffic jam. I'm ok though but car is gone I believe.

Questions i had was how much will typcially my insurance go up? I have never been in an accident before and i'm a senior in college so my parents are paying my insurance for me. I did not get a citation. I am soon to get my own insurance and will my rate be higher?

I guess the G35 will have to be in delay....

When I was shopping for a car for my wife the insurance on the maxima was substantially higher that the one on the G Sedan. I suggest you browse the dealer's inventory and get the vin of a car that is configured exactly the way you want it and call your insurance to do a side by side comparison between your car and the G.

you will lose your safe driver discount with your insurance company.... when you look into your own policy, you will lose other discounts as well... multiline discount, family discount, and if you'll be out of school than you'd lose your good grades student discount (if you had that)... you'll be looking at A LOT of premiums with the G... shop around for quotes, but i'd expect you'd be looking in the range of $4-$5K per year... well in jersey anyway... it may be diff in PA... well actually it may be higher than that if it were jersey. your location has a lot to do with it...down to your actual zip code

good luck with your search and hope to pass you on the road some day with a G

Ok I'll make sure I'll keep that in mind...

4-5k a year? Isn't that kind of expensive?

In NJ, 4-5k a year for someone under 25 and an accident on their insurance record, it is very common. I suspect that your PA insurance won't be as expensive as NJ. But, there is only way to tell... get the vin and get and estimate

Hmm if i were you i wouldnt leave your parents plan unless you are forced too! Let's just say i graduated last may and there is no way i can leave my parents company. Stay on the parents and just pay them. I started to pay my own indurance after graduation

Yeah, definitely piggyback on your parents' plan. I totaled my IS300 in '05 while in college and I'm paying about $1600/yr under my 'rents. Speak with your agent and press him for "alternatives". I am with Allstate and apparently the plan that I am on under my parents is some sort of special feature that they don't publicly advertise since it allows for such lower premiums than I would otherwise pay with a crash history on my record. It took some persuasion, but hopefully you can drag something out of them.

There is a huge risk in doing that. If you should be involved in a horrific accident and you are culpable, your parent's will be liable for any of the damages that go beyond the limits of your Insurance coverage. If there's bodily injury, it's not difficult to incur damages that easliy exceed the $300K coverage that most people have. Any kind of assets that your parent's have accumulated over a life time could be wipped out in a moment.

I guess my parents would be more worried if i wasnt such a trustworthy and responsible child they have raised. Accidents can happen to anyone. What makes you, or even my parents, getting in an accident less prone than I? The day i do something that causes my parents to lose trust in me then, yes, i will have to deal with the problem. 24 years ago i didn't ask my parents to bring me into the world. They have taken on the responsibility and whilst allowing me to stand on my two feet they still can help me.

When i have children i don't ever expect them to HAVE to work.

Yeah I just talked to my brother who also totaled a car in highschool back in 1999. He said that he's only paying about 1,600 a year under my parent's insruance. He just graduated from college and still paying the same amount (for now). I hope that's all I have to pay for.

When will my "record" of this incident be cleared? a year or the end of the year?

I'm a little worried about getting a G35 as of now because my moral and confidence in driving is decreased and totaling a G35 would be a killer to me.. especially how hard I've been working to save up all this time just to get a G35... but anyways... I do plan on getting on after insurance rates would be back to normal and when I can save more money to get it. Thanks for all the help and info guys!

G35 guys rock!

meh, 4 tickets and my insurance is 5k/yr part time, full time ~10k.. on my old 06 mustang gt MT, traded it in for 06 g35 and insurance went up few hundred.

Technically, I'm 19 with 6 tickets and one accident, but I took the class for two tickets, so insurance only knows about 4, and the accident they dont know.

Oh yeah I'm in Florida haha
