shouldve just sent the ticket in and plead not guilty, I was dismissed for my 91 in a 65. There is a new law in NY where every court needs a DA, even the really small towns, it so happens the one I was pulled over in, did not have a DA. But now that all this has happened, sorry man, I dont think you can do anything about it.

I'm trying to figure out how the system screwed you over. Maybe the trooper and the detective thought you would only get 5 points. The points are given by the department of motor vehicles not the cop. You should have researched before you pled. I don't see a problem with you venting, but the only person you can blame is yourself for not informing yourself before you made a decision. Next time you will know better.

Yep... Drivers Responsibility Fine or something like that. I love those... especially when they come in surprise forms. I've gotten mine 1yr AFTER I paid my ticket... another fuked up thing is that the fine came into act only a few days before I got pulled over.

Add insurance rate increase to that trip for another 3+ years (not sure by how much, mine for a moving violation - 19 mph over the limit - that expires this month cost me $1800 for a 12 month premium) .
Well, whatever you do, I hope you learned your lesson.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who understood that all im doing is venting my damn frustration on the system and that i feel a bit cheated by what happened to me.

In no way shape or form am i crying about gettin cought, or speeding or saying that i am not guilty..none of that..simply saying that im upset becuause i pleaded guilty because of what said on the ticket and what i was told by two separate officers...now i get a letter a month later with a completely different story having to pay 400$ extra due to an incident i already understood i had taken care off. Everything changed from 5 points to 8..big difference dont u think.

..so to the rest of you's that said "grow up" or stop crying and get over it or dun play if u cant pay or watever the hell u said...*** that **** ok..we ALL have gone over the speed limit, a lot of you's street race & do watever..i dont say shyt becuz your not the first or the last person to do so.

so once again thanks to those that understand my frustration and where its being directed..

I'm comparitively older than most of you on this board. I will admit it's hard to not drive this car aggressively. Maybe it's a matter of growing up but if that were truly the case, I would be driving a 4 door Buick Le Sabre, Chevy Caprice, Ford Crown Victoria or perhaps a Cadillac DeVille. The G is a performance automobile and the temptation to DRIVE it is great.

I chose to invest in a radar detector instead of investing in my local police force.

I just got a headache for trying to interpret your sentence structure. That was the biggest sentence I've ever seen. I can't follow the "..." Good luck, I'm not sure how anyone can help. It seems to me this could have been in the off topic forum. I would look to hire a lawyer who may be able to work a deal out for you so you don't lose your license for that 30 days.

He was just venting. Not complaining about the ticket just the fall out b/c he was ill advised by the law. They didn't even know there own rules. But i guess they don't need to know specific points they are not the DMV. Anyhow the reinstatement fee sucks, i had to do it. Anyhow turn over the license...it sounds like you are getting a temp license so at least you have the ability to drive

I agree with you that what happend was bullsh!t!! I would be extremely pissed if 2 government officials told me that i was getting 5 points and then i get slammed with 8. I would be tempted to take that to court and somehow fight it. I mean the system is crooked as it is and then officials lying to you...?

I feel ya man i would be pissed as well

As I understand it, POs are broadly allowed to say anything they want, tell baldfaced lies and strike fake plea agreements with suspects. The purpose is to allow them to deal with any situation and rectify it peaceably. Telling you you'll only receive 5 points is a way for them to get you to receive the ticket and be on your way, instead of arguing or (they don't know who you are) potentially becoming a bigger problem for them.

Their words do not carry legal weight, they are not authorized to negotiate for the state, etc unless they are telling you to do something, arresting you, ticketing you, etc narrowly defined activities authorized by the gov't.

Sorry to hear but what's done is done. Is it too late for you to appeal or have some time in court? If not, get yourself an attorney and see what they can do. Good luck
