Re: g35c vs supra
I believe the 15th anniversary edition supras did not have turbo written behind them.

Re: g35c vs supra
Hi
The MK IV Supra (TT) will stomp a G35c. I have ridden in one and with minimal BPU upgrades, it is insanely fast! The G35 is quick, but not insanely fast. At the '03 Supras Invade Las Vegas, Daily Driver MK IVs were doing the 1/4 mile in 13 or less seconds at 4,000 feet in elevation.
There are many MK 3 Turbos that have been modified. They are fast and will probably take the G35. I know people that have raced the G35c and 350Z and they say that neither car is competitive against their modified MK 3 Turbos.
A turboed MK2 can easily put 230 Hp at the wheels and it is a much lighter car than the G35.
Many Supra owners are fanatics and will spend gobs of money on their cars.
Yes, I love my G and the creature comforts it offers. But I would never believe it is in the same performance league as a MKIV TT Supra

Re: g35c vs supra
umm.. no... g35 6MT wil be killed by either MT or AT twin turbo supra... 0-60 is kinda low(still around 5.1sec) on AT supra due to turbo needs to spool up, once that turbo spool up, bye bye g35 6MT... if i remember times correctly, AT supra TT will easily can hit 13.4(stock) where 6MT will hit 13.2-3(stock)... it will be very funny if g35 6MT vs. AT supra TT is driver's race but SMG M3 vs. 6MT is not...SMG m3 runs about 13.3 range too... how can 6MT is driver's race with supra but not m3 where supra and m3 runs about identical to each other? i still can't believe someone acutally comparing supra vs. g35... we are not in that league... a lot of g MT people are having tough time beating AT g, then why they wanna touch 13sec car for?
Re: g35c vs supra
Funny you should mention the m3 smg - my friend just got a 03 SMG and it beats his modded Supra TT in 0-60. But quarter mile the TT will take it.

STOCK AT Supra TT's run around in the 13.7-13.8 in the 1/4 mile and the fastest 0-60 times have been from 5.3 to 5.6 but that's with a good launch. On the road from a "street start" (5-60) they around take 6.2s.

So from a stop or street start (5-60) it's a driver's race to 60MPH with a stock G35C 6MT and a stock AT TT Supra, but after 60 MPH it's all Supra from there on. But nowadays you won't find to many stock Supra's anyway.

Here's a link to the C&D page where they got 5.3s to 60 and 6.2s (5-60): http://www.mkiv.com/publications/car...3_97/page4.jpg

Here's another link to other stock magazine test results from I-supra.com: http://www.i-supra.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc...1&m=5916082111

Re: g35c vs supra
hahaha it's mad funny u tryin to compare average supra time vs. best g time... like you said, AT TT supra will hit around 5.3 with good luanch and 5.5 for 6MT WITH PERFECT LAUNCH... raise your hand if you ever hit 5.5 at the track??? almost no one hit the 5.5 at track then how the hell they can hit 5.5 on the streets?? supra is AUTOMATIC, they run without making any errors and they will run 5.3 all day while 6MT need to be perfect and still can't win... how can you call this a driver's race?? i bet if there is race 0-60 b/w AT g and MT g, if they race 5times, AT g would likely win 2times...no matter how good is g is, unless supra don't wanna race, g can't win... period..and can i ask you why you use street start on supra and use best time for g?? where is the street time for 6MT g?? and it's time to awake from those magazine times... C&D claims G35 sedan AT hit 14.9 but most AT sedans run around 14.5... and most AT stock TT supras will hit 13.4 easily not 13.7-8... and i call MT 350z vs. MT g or around there driver's race...

What I posted before aren’t average times for the Supra TT, they’re the best times from each magazine. 5.3s to 60 was C&D’s best time and 5.6s to 60 was Motor Trend’s best time for the automatic Supra TT.

In reply to:

The key to achieve 5.3s run to 60 in the AT Supra TT is knowing at what RPM to release the brakes at, too low RPM’s and you’ll get a slower time, release at higher RPM’s and you’ll just spin the tires. So no the AT Supra TT won’t always get 5.3s to 60 all day just because it’s an automatic, you have to properly torque brake it at the right RPM’s to achieve that time. Without torque braking the AT Supra TT, it would take around 6.2s to reach 60, and that’s from the same test that C&D got 5.3s to 60 for the AT Supra TT. That’s a nine-tenths of a second difference from the brake torque launch to a simple mash-on-throttle “street start” to 60MPH for the AT Supra TT. Coincidently C&D (Rotary Revival, Apr. ’03 Issue) got the G 6MT to 60 in 6.2s with the “street start” clutch engaged and flooring it.

In reply to:

how can you call this a driver's race??

Simple if the Supra driver sleeps off the line by half a second or doesn’t know how to torque-brake the AT Supra TT and the G 6MT driver gets a good launch he’ll get at least a car length or two on the Supra to about 60, after that the AT Supra TT will start to pass him cause it’s obviously got more HP and the twin turbos are at their full potential. So that’s why I say it could be a driver’s race between the two from a stop cause their “best” 0-60 times are close to each other, but it’s mostly dependent on the driver of the G 6MT to be a good driver. If they were both bad driver’s than the 6MT G would lose to the AT Supra TT every single time.
The AT Supra TT will most likely win 4 times out of 5 with a good driver cause it’s an automatic and more powerful than the 6MT G, but it’s not “impossible” for a 6MT G to beat a stock AT Supra TT in a short race to 60MPH.
What I wouldn’t call a driver’s race is with a Z06 or a Cobra against the G cause either one would kill the G with a good driver or bad.

Re: g35c vs supra
I sold a '95 Supra Turbo in Decmeber that was pretty built up. Actually if any of you care to see it, it was the black on in the Apr '03 Super Street. Anyway I went from stock to 600 wheel in stages over 4 1/2 years. It's been a while since I drove a stock but I'm pretty sure it's still faster than my G coupe (stock). They are not all that laggy either. The MKIV (93-98) Supra Turbo has a twin sequential system stock. Both turbos are the same size but exhaust energy is diverted only to one for quick resonce then after about 3800 rpm a valve opens and the second turbo comes online for more top end. Also like you others have said the car loves mods. Just the cat back will add up to 20hp! Good luck racing.
On a posotive note there is some cool stuff comming out for the G and I'm intersted to see how all these S/C and turbo's work out. I need boost again! Too bad we can't make 600 wheel with out even changing a head gasket like on the Supra though.
I am going to use this opportunity to once again mention, we need to start nagging AEM to make a plug and play EMS (stand alone computer) we are never going to make any safe real N/A or F/I HP without good engine managment. Start bugging those guys please!
