of course they dont like to they're stealers...ive heard close to probably a 100+ stories about 6MT trannies alone being replaced theres a new thread every other day or so....my master cylinder was replaced b/c of my pedal getting stuck, then went in to have the input shaft replaced which wasted a week of my time, and now i DEF see a new tranny replacement in the near future....the main problem ive been having is with my clutch pedL....no problems shifting into gears but it clicks on slow releases and it can be heard from outside the car as well but only when its hot pita!

that same exact thing happened in a recent best motoring vid with a 350z in the porsche carrera episode. during the standing start the 350's clutch pedal just seemed to stay depressed for a while. it made the car go from 1st place on the grid to last. i looks and sounds like a problem with the slave cylinder. just a guess...anybody get this problem fixed?

4k clutch drop should smoke the tires instead of burning the clutch. It sounds like u feathered the clutch while holding the rpms at 4k.
I have dragged my car about 5 times and have done numerous 3k drops and slips and im still on stock clutch at almost 35k on the car. The dealer did replace my tranny though because my 3rd gear blew.

That happened to me too. About a year ago I was showing my brother my new car and got a little too excited. Dropped the clutch too high and the car went nowhere, rpms when up, and I looked like an idiot.

Anyway, 20k miles later and the clutch is fine. Knock on wood though...

+1

seriously. wtf were you trying to do? drift? LOL. Still you don't need to be dropping the clutch at such a high rpm. it's not a damn honda civic cheif.

Interesting. My 98 Corvette (wow, was it really 8 years ago?) had a similar problem with the clutch sticking. They replaced it once under warranty but it would still do it. Sounds like a design flaw to me.

no flaw, when you abuse it and dump the clutch like that the system will react that way, there is no reason why you should be abusing the car like that...

the clutch was designed to work a certain way, there are always mishaps with production but generally most of the 06 are trouble free

No argument here about the abuse statement, but what type of clutch system design will keep the clutch pedal depressed after you remove your foot and then stay down until you pump the pedal a few times even after RPMs have dropped?

The problem is that many of us read reports from various magazines listing really quick times for the cars they test. Unfortunately to get these times the testers have to abuse the cars that they are driving by dropping the clutch at high rpms. I remember 5.5, 0/60 times being quoted for an S2000 when that car was first released. That was a real hard time to match unless you were willing to abuse your car by dropping the clutch at 4500 rpm.

When we go to the Dealership to buy a high performance car, the order taker ( I won't dignify these guys by calling them salesmen) will tell you that you are buying a car that is meant to be driven hard and you won't hurt it all by pushing it as hard as you want. This is total BS. It's OK to push you car to extremes occassionally but if you do it regularly, don't expect it to last.

hmm i find it interesting that a good amount of you said the car isnt meant for that, the clutch will of course do that, etc. I have to disagree.. take a second and look at other cars, i dunno about you guys but i have never heard of the clutch sticking no matter how high the rpms are and i have seen rpms maxed when people take off from a dead stop. Once I had my car at 3200 rpms at a stop and the clutch stuck in doesnt seem like much of a "normal" response of a clutch to me..

there are numerous people with g35s that expereince this problem, search around and see for yourself

Does anyone here know anything about cars? Clutchs are meant to wear, meaning, if you abuse, it goes bye bye. I have 45k miles on my car, i beat the sh*t of it!!! I have been to the dealer 4 times, for all kinds of problems...some they warranty, some they dont. You buy it, you do what you want with it. Dont complain about it later.

As for this clutch issue, nothing is perfect. My friends has a 360 Modena and has more problems with that thing that i ever hade with all my cars.

it is what it is
