thanks
gear engagement is a delicate art, and differs in every car, with lower HP cars with less torque, it's more lenient about the engagement (think civic) but with the G which has at least twice the torque rating, it is not as generous on the mistakes. Number one rookie mistake in making smooth shifts (ive done it so i know) is holding on to the clutch at the very end to allow for the gear to engage smoothly, before letting it out completely. This pratice is ultimately eating away at your clutch plate, a genuine smooth shift is one that you precisely let off the gas, fully engage the clutch and release fully while get on the gas at the right RPM. This differs in every car, so if you have more than one manual car ( I do) you might be thrown off a bit. But since you only have the G, it just takes pratice to know where the right RPM is. Key to this is not to cheat yourself, it might be rough at first when you try to fully engage and disengage clutch to find that point, but when you do, you will know for sure. It would be crisp and not jerky, you will feel the torque launch you forward, rather than a hesitation of motion before it goes.
Once you have mastered it, its rewarding and if you go to the track, you will know if you really got it. I was able to achieve 14.2 with my stock 04 6MT, the same as road and track tested.
