I'd like some opinions if I should add a limited slip or not. I can obviously think of other ways to spend $1000, so...

I will not be racing. I will be *enjoying* driving my g35 coupe hard though. But will a limited slip really give me better fowl weather traction? Opinions please.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, not a opinion, fact.

Now you have to decide if the benefit ='s the $$$. This is where you'll get the argument that its for racing. LSD is better to have period, YOU be the judge if YOU feel it's benefits are worth the $$$. Don't push your car, don't every spin a wheel or find yourself bothered by that happening,........theirs your answer.

I just converted my 03 6mt sedan to the stock Viscious limited slip. Unless you can get your hands on a stock unit for DIRT cheap, like I did, DO NOT BOTHER INSTALLING THE STOCK VISCIOUS LIMITED SLIP. With all the parts you have to add to make it work in a open diff case, It won't be worth it. Here's what I mean. I only paid $100 to buy a zero mileage vicious unit to swap in. THE CATCH $400 in extra parts to use it!!!. If you buy the Nismo LSD for $900, not only do you get all of those parts I had to pay $400 extra for, but you get a superior clutch type limted slip system in the process. And it'll cost the same to install to, $400. If I had known in advance that I could have gotten a clutch type LSD for only $400 more than I paid to swap in a stock viscious unit, I would have done it in a heart beat.

This is what those $400 in parts I'm talking about consists of.
2 LSD bearing seals
2 LSD bearing sets
2 LSD stub axles (non LSD stub axles can not be used)
This is what the Nismo LSD come's with at part of the purchase price.

6mt sed
Crawford Pleneum
Injen CAI
Cusco sway bars
350Z springs&struts
Custom true dual exhaust
Nismo header (soon)

Is Limited Slip something that can be added after purchasing the car?

Background: I test drove an '05 on 19s, and the salesman was very cool - - and wasn't afraid to let me get the tail out on some low speed 90 degree turns (it was raining). So I get my '03 on 17s, and when I try it now, I just get the 'one wheel drive' syndrome, wherein that inside wheel just spins away. Much less fun! Is it too late to do anything about this? I'll be the first to admit, I dont know that much about differentials.

I had an 05 without it and the one I have now has it with it; both 5AT's. There is a difference. The wheels definately stay on the ground and traction is better with the LSD. It's not only performance, but also I would consider safer. Less chance of the car losing power to a tire and slipping.

I've had both and their is a difference. I'm not saying it's worth spending $1000+ on it that is up to you, but you can tell a difference in driving. I do feel better traction in corners and turning the wheel. It is a significant feeling. I don't know how the numbers are, but I am glad my car has it now.

I'm just trying to figure out if a LSD is something that can be added now that I have the car. Is this the 1000 dollars everyone is talking about, or is it a 1000 dollar option on a new one?
