For those of you who totaled your car..

when you got in the accident, did all the airbags go off? (side etc.) how do you rate the g with safety after having your car totaled?

I had mine totaled and 2 front air bags went off. Considering I only had a bruise from the seatbelt I feel pretty safe in the G.

Side curtain airbags don't go off unless there's a side impact detected. Do you expect every airbag in the car to go off when you get into a major crash?

I think he's seen Demolition Man too many times, and thinks that a small bump will trigger his entire cabin to be filled with protective foam.

But seriously...

When my wife totalled my 350Z, she was hit hard on the front right corner (passenger side), both front airbags went off and she walked away stunned but inhurt. The side curtain and side bolster airbags did not deploy, nor did they need to.

350Zs/G35s are very safe to drive.

A 17 year-old drunken text messaging kid hit me head-on (front driver-side corner) in my 05' Coupe in June and four airbags went off. I had one pop out of the side of my seat, one out of the upper side pillar, one in my face and one hit my passenger in the face. The impact ripped my driver side front wheel off and it was found 350 feet away from the car. Not a fun experience but the car was solid enough for me to walk away. Hence, I got an new 06' a few weeks later after the other kid's insurance gave me the check for the car.

Glad to hear you are OK, and the car kept you safe.

Are you feeling any type of residual pain from the accident?

My neck, back and left knee are still sore/tight still but it certainly could have been worse.

Ouch!! Thats bad..

Overall from reading up and viewing pictures on G35 coupe related accidents, it seems like the car holds up remarkably well in terms of cabin safety for passengers...On my 03' I had the unfortunate experience of having a pretty bad accident and a lot people including myself were surprised that I walked away unharmed...Ever since then I've given the G new respect along with all the threads I've read regarding its safety..Drive safely people
