The most important thing about not letting our cars walk away is to make very sure no registered keys are left in the vehicle. The immobilizer DOES work. If the transponder and it's rolling code isn't there then the car's not even starting. From my research, even the remote start units that are available for our cars require an enrolled transponder head located in the car. Not really a problem as there is not a mechanical key (just the head) so mechanical locking still has to be defeated.

I wanted to put a fingerprint scanner on car, a valid biometric signal must be detected before the vehicle can be started. Seems like a cool idea until I realised the system would be simply too complicated.

i bet you weren't expecting a locksmith to bust in on the post. and you would've caught a lot of **** for rack and pinion if you wouldn't have fixed it.

good info from the locksmith. always interested in how the mechanical aspect of our g's work.

im in the wifi and network security business and I know that I would not want any "modification" that responds to wifi or bluetooth to "unlock" my car... lol
