Im on 1400 miles and im doing like 12-13mpg. WTF?
on highway i get 17mpg.

Maybe is it because i went over the 4k rpm before breakin?? or what? this is ridiculous. i get about 200 miles per tank..

Re: horrible gas mileage?
I'm getting probabaly 16 mpg but that's because I only have less than a 5 min drive to work. I try to take a little bit out of the way drive at least once a day so that my drive lasts longer than 5 min. Wish I had a beater for this reason. On the highway I get great gas mileage. It's those short drives that kill your gas mileage.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
Can our G tell us how many MPG we're getting on the car or are you guys just dividing the number of miles you got with a full tank of gas by the number of gallons the G can hold.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
If you have the navi system it tells you your mpg, but I haven't seen any data on how accurate this number is. My navi says I'm getting 19mpg, with mostly city driving and a few small stints on the freeway, and I step on it a lot.

Regarding break-in, it's not that. There isn't even any good data on what a good break-in is, much less on it's impact on fuel mileage. The only thing we know today about break-in procedures on modern engines is that nobody knows what one is, or even if there is one, or if it is even necessary at all.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
The nav system calculates MPG (pretty accurately in my case). Otherwise you do it the old way.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
My nav system reads about 1MPG off. It's been so long since I checked, though, that I forget if it was high or low.... duh.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
I have the Stillen Hi Flow Air Box , Z Tube and now new Bridgestone 19's that are much wider than the stock Michelins. Not sure if this is a factor. My gas mileage went down to 12 MPG when I first got my Stillen Box, heavy Foot Syndrome. It is now back up to 16 or 17 mixed highway and city with some short trips. I'm lucky if I get 285 or 290 miles per tank.

I fill it up everytime and reset the mileage thingy and devide the miles by the number of gallons pumped. The old fashioned way.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
I also calculate my mileage the old fashioned way. Have 13000 miles on my coupe. During break-in, I avg about 18-19 mpg. After that, it jumped up to about 22mpg. After crossing the 10000 mile mark, I'm now averaging 24mpg. I checked my tire pressure this weekend. Was 30psi because of the colder weather. Pumped it to 35psi, and now I'm thinking I might average at least 25mpg.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
Yeh that's crappy mileage. I get around 18 to 20 mixed driving, and my navi reads slightly optimistic (about .5 mpg high). I have about 5k miles now.
Maybe the dealer can help. Sounds like something is wrong.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
I'm getting like 17MPG based on my own calculations. My nav tells me around 19MP.
Anyway, I'm in the process of trying to convince myself that I'm really driving an SUV. That way the low gas mileage would seem less painful...or not...I guess that's the price we pay for performance and style.

Re: horrible gas mileage?
I tried to convince myself that I am driving a Suburban. Unfortunately, I own a 2001 Suburban and that gets better gas mileage then my coupe. Go figure!
