ummmm, if it was warning you about you 30k tune up don't you think the engine light would come on when your milage is closer to 30k, not 10k miles off? Take it in or get a diagnosis on it.

Before you decided to run off to the dealer, i strongly suggest go to your nearest auto zone & get free diagnos.

A "Check Engine Light" isn't necessarily used to remind you about routine maintenence. The only car I've ever owned that used it in that purpose was our 2G TL.

But that aside, your friend is correct in the other regard. The G35 does not use any of the warning lights to remind you of maintenence. If you have navigation, it'll remind you to change your oil and filter...

Why wouldn't you just go to the dealer and get a FREE diagnosis there? Comes with a complimentary carwash.

Yeah, my stupid RSX warned me as well by having the engine light come on and stay on until the dealership, (or me) turned it off. lol.

the diagnosis isn't free at the dealer. you pay the standard 80 bux or so for that.

DO NOT let the dealership wash your car. Despite me telling the dealer to not wash my car 3 times on the same visit, they still washed my car. I now have hundreds of scratches, some of them pretty deep, on every single body panel of my coupe. Some of them make it look obvious that the person washign my car was wearing a big bracelet, as there are several LOOONG zig-zag scratches.

if this helps any, i started my dad's porsche up the other day after it had not been run/driven for 4 days. it had a hard start that sounded weird so i backed it out of the driveway and then the light turns on. so i pull it back in the driveway and let it chill for about 5 minutes with motor off. comeback outside to start it up, starts up fine without a problem no light or anything...
so my question is, was it just after you started up the car or is it continually happening?

Right here in Cerritos, Ca.

So you're saying if a check engine light comes on for something covered under warranty, they'll charge you? Sucks to live in AZ then.

first of all, thanks everyone for all the responses

and i'm taking "G35shawn"s advice and taking it to auto zone...

in response to "LjN 728", i never let the dealer wash my car, because everytime i let the dealer wash it, i find a new scratch on my car...i like to wash my own car
