How do you take out the shift knob?

the shift boot is easy...the car comes apart so easily if you take you rtime

If yours is stuck for some reason, and you are using a vice grip, make sure to protect the **** with a towel

I thought the towel was only for clean up. whatevs.

Just use a crescent wrench (make sure the jaws dont have teeth), and tighten it onto the lower part of the shifter (more rectangular, rather than ball), and twist til you can loosen with your hands. You shouldn't need a particular shift **** other than one with a thread size that will match the OEM. Also, if the new shift **** you're getting doesn't have a place to easily vise-grip with, then you might have some problems if it needs a spacer. Or maybe not, I'm not sure.
