This is what I used......

Hiya,

As recommended in other posts on this forum, I used a Verbatim Dual Layer DVD +R and Clone CD, it was burned on an HP burner using the 'book type' mode. The method was suggested by a couple of other owners who said it worked fine for them.

My DL disc takes forever to read the data and is basically unuseable. No harm no foul. But like you, I wish my backup would have worked as others did.

Maybe the problem is my NAV unit in my '06 AT, but it works fine and reads the original disc fast, there's no 30 second wait between letters, as I enter the name of a town as a destination.

Thanks!

Your CDs will also eject without the key in. We have a 98 QX-4 that does the same thing.

Do you burn at 1x(or the disc's slowest write speed)? I use Nero to rip and burn the disc and it works just as good as the original. I am using a Pioneer DVR-108 to write to verbatim discs.

Or rather my computer guru buddy did, I can't imagine what is making the access time so incredibly slow. Makes no sense to me that the thing is media type sensitive.

Going down the road, the screen keeps up with where your car is. But If you stop and try to enter a destination city or street it takes anywhere between 30 and 40 seconds between letters! I soon tired of this and put the original back in.

I have no DL burner so I can't experiment, my friend made this one for me.

I'll even send you my disc so you can see how poorly it works, and you can keep it, it's of no use to me.

Thanks,

GEVO
