Is it me or are our Nav DVDs easy to steal?

I have noticed that in our G35 coupes the nav disc can be removed by pressing the button without the key in the ignition! That is in my 03!! Is it the same throught the G35 coupes and nissan/infiniti's?

i noticed that like in the chevys and stuff the keys need to be in the ignition in order to remove the navigation disc?

just my .02 cents on something i found a little wierd

I tried it earlier and it wouldn't eject without the key in the ignition. I have an 05 with 6.5 Nav Disc.

That's why you backup your NAV DVD, and not worry about it.

If I remember correctly when I had the version 6.3 Nav DVD it would eject without the key in the ignition but after I upgraded to the 6.5 it won't let me eject the disc without the key being in the ignition.

I just upgraded to 6.5 in my 2004.5 coupe and the disc WILL eject without acc power.

Thats why I keep a backup copy in the vehicle and keep the orig disc in a safe place. With the disc costing $190 I'm not leaving it in the car.

Are you doing it after you shutdown the car or before you even put the key in the ignition. I made a backup as well and keep the original safe at home.

I just went out and tried it. The car has been sitting in my garage without any attention for 18 hours. No key, no remote. Just open the door and push the eject button for like 5 seconds and it will pop out. Funny thing is that the disc won't go back in until you turn the key on to at least ACC. Great design there!!!

Nevermind what I said earlier, mine does the same thing. You have to acutally hold the eject in unlike if the key was in the ignition where you just press the button and it comes out. My disc goes back in by just pushing it back in without the key in the ignition. I don't know what Infiniti was thinking when they did that. Theres really no point in being able to remove the disc when the keys are not in the ignition unless maybe the drive is used by other cars that have DVD capabilities built into the unit.

My backup NAV DVD runs so slow that it's useless to me!

I made a backup too and the access time is so slow that it's worthless to me, it's FINE as long as you don't have to program a route. IE: driving along it seems to keep up with where you are, but entering a route is like do it yourself dentistry!!

If they steal it they steal it! I'd love to use a backup, but for me it won't work.

What disc are you using for the backup and how fast did you burn it? Also what program did you use to backup the dvd? My backup seems to work like normal, it's not slower than the original from what I can tell. I used CloneCD and burned it at 1X with a Memorex DVD+R DL.
