I've used KYBs in the past. Konis are in a different league if you ask me.

I agree with Konis, and not even sure Bilsteins are that much better, especially for the price.
KYB are an nice jump over Monroes or Gabriels IMO.

350Z H with KYB

Thanks all...I’m getting some 350Z H springs and did not want to keep my factory shocks. I do not think anyone has tried this setup yet, hopefully the shock will hold up better than factory.

the GR-2 are just a cheap non adjustable version of the AGX or AXG. just save like another 100- 150 bucks and get the adjustable version.

and I had the GR2 if you change your mind and go too low with a different spring you will blow the GR2.

trust me just save a little more and get the KYB AGX adjustable. You'll be way happier.

Posted this last week, I was going to post a link via the search engine to make a point, but that idea came back to me because it won't search for 3 letter words. No harm no foul.

First thing, the GR2 is a oem replacement and is not designed for use with stiffer lowering springs. I've had run in's with the shock on other application's and it's alway's the same story. People buy them because they are cheap and run them with springs they shouldn't. Tokico D-specs are still your go to shock for that and worth every penny they cost over a GR2.

Where I see a market for them.
Sedan's with oem Z springs that have oem sedan shocks. You'd get a set of shocks that should be valved like oem revised Z shocks with a warranty avoid any possible issues associated with treading into the used market.

Coupes that don't have the 05+ sport suspension, the GR2 should firm up the suspension a bit since it's valving would mirror the Z revised shocks.

Kyb with 350Z H on a G

Thanks for the info…I just want to be clear on what you said, the GR-2 are just like the factory shock I have on the G now they are none adjustable. If I plan to go lower, I should go for the adjustable one. If I do not want to go lower, I should be ok with the 350Z H. Is that what you’re saying? Thank in advance.

We are talking about GR2's, their oem replacement shock, not their AGX shock, which would have made a whole lot more sense. Bilstein H.D's are also oem replacement's and just like the GR2's, valved accordingly. Though when you get yourself into trouble because you didn't do any research and you run them with stiffer lowering spirngs at least you can have a conversation with Jack French at Bilstein to have them revalved for $65 per. Any shock, even Koni's if asked to things they should not be asked to do, will feel like garbage. Bigger problem is owner's that have no clue when something is bad and go around saying how great something is, when it definately isn't.

Shocking..............!

I had KYBs on my '92 300ZXTT and they worked great. I would go with the
Tokicos DSP-9 shocks with the Tein H-Tech springs. This what I have and
it's a perfect match. This combo is available thru everythingg35.com at a
good price.

How they are vs your oem shocks depends on your oem starting point since they are R&D'd from a 350z shock starting point. If you have a coupe with oem 17 or 18 inch wheel's, the GR2 should be stiffer. If your coupe has oem19's, the GR2's should not feel any different.

Having run 350Z H-tech's myself, they are a relatively mild spring vs oem, shouldn't be a problem for GR2's. D-spec's being adjustable isn't the key to why you would want them for lowering or any other reason. You'd want them because they are a superior shock with the kind of valving that let's you know very quickly why you spent the extra money for them.
