G35 Coupe Dynoed w/350Z intake tube
Just thought you might be interested. We had a 350Z/G35 dyno meet today in CT and we had 38 cars show. The dyno's were done on a Dyna Pack machine by XXTuning (www.xxtuning.com) and one G35 Coupe did a dyno pull stock and then had his intake tube replaced with a 350Z tube.
Below are the results:
Car: G35 Coupe (6MT)
RPM for peak HP: 6000
RPM for peak Torque: 4750
Dyno Result Stock:
HP: 229.1
Torque: 227.0
Dyno Result with 350Z intake tube:
HP: 234.8
Torque: 231.2
This person used the intake tube from my 350Z which I had replaced with an Injen CAI. Suffice it to say that his investment of $40 had a better gain than my $250 investment in the Injen CAI I have.
This person went home a happy camper.
Another 350Z owner also sold his tube to another G35 Coupe owner.
BTW, they both stated that the car had a throatier sound to it.
I highly recommend this mod.

What kinds of hp increases did you see from the Injen? If you're only seeing one or two hp then I'll be in the market for a 350z tube too. No use paying the extra money for such a slight increase over a 350z intake plus I'd prefer not to have my intake that low to the ground anyway...

Re: G35 Coupe Dynoed w/350Z intake tube
yeah. it comes stock in 350z's. i recommend posting on MY350Z.com and asking for the intake pipes. that's how i got mine. most of the 350z drivers have switched to nismo or injen and just have their tubes lying around. new ones will cost around $70, while you could get a perfectly good one for 20-50, depending on the seller.
the main difference between the tubes on the 350 and coupe are that the coupe has a resonator, while the 350 has a straight tube..
i remember somebody else had it dynoed too (coupe w/ 350z tube) and it increased by +2 hp i think. either way, the intake does make the car sound throatier when hitting higher RPMs. IMO this is definitely a worthwhile mod.

Whoa i didnt know that the G's max hp point is at 6... i thought it was slow more along the line as high 4 or 5

The factory-claimed peak hp is at 6200 rpm. Posted dynos of close-to-stock cars show about the same. You may be thinking of the torque peak's rpm.

Two pulls were done stock and then two pulls were done with the 350Z tube and in both cases the numbers were consistent.
Keep in mind also that the dyno's were done on a Dyna Pack machine in which your rear wheels are removed and, supposedly, makes the dyno numbers more accurate than when done on a roller dyno machine. For more information on this dyno machine you can go to www.xxtuning.com.
