All G35 drivers must read this fora great surprise
Look what i found in Car and Driver....
"The G35 was no slouch in the performance department. Clocking 14.2 seconds at 100 mph in the quarter-mile, this G coupe was quicker than the last 350Z we tested (December 2002), despite being 137 pounds heavier (3500 versus 3363) and motivated by seven fewer ponies (280 versus 287). With 60 mph available in 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 155, this is one fast coupe."
So all the Z owners out there who claim their cars are faster bc they are lighter and have more horsepower can just drop that arguement right now. Although, on the same website, i also found 0-60 times at 6.0 flat and QM at 14.8. I also saw 0-60 at 5.8 and QM at 14.6.
Also interesting that they list the s4 at 0-60 at 5.5 and 97-99 M3's at 5.5 yet i have raced 3 different S4's....2 on the highway and one from a stoplight (6spd stock) and then on the highway...and my roommate has a 98m3 (5sp wiht intake and exhaust) and i won every single time. So in conclusion, the 5.5 0-60 and 14.2 QM times must still be a little bit off which means the G35 is even faster than people think.
Feedback anyone?

The G35 is not faster than the 350z or an M3, but who cares! I'd say a: at least you're not driving a boy toy (350z, it's the next ricing honda) and b: as of now, you're driving something that is a little 'less' common. That's my opinion, feel free to bash it.

I notice they didn't specify the ambient temperature on the days of the G35 test and the 350Z test, or whether or not it was even at the same location.

i agree, they did not specify the temp or the location....BUT...in regards to the comment about it not being faster than the M3....how do u explain me beating my roommate 4 TIMES IN A ROW???? AND yes, he does know how to drive stick very well.
Re: All G35 drivers must read this fora great surprise
You will not beat an M3 if the driver knows how to drive. Either he doesn't know how to drive, or wasn't racing. Trust me. I'm not a fan of M3s, but I know when I'll be beat (if I bothered to race).

IIRC C&D attempts to correct all their road tests for temperature and atmospheric conditions. I'm sure it's an imperfect science though.
My hunch is that the difference between the two 6MT G35C 0-60 runs they did (different cars, months apart) was mostly a combination of that factor plus break-in time. The earlier, slower run was probably in a new, low mileage car. That's a variable that's never mentioned in their tests, nor is it apparently corrected for.
Since some cars change much more dramatically than others during break-in (the G's seem to be in the "very dramatic" category), it would be a difficult variable for any testing procedure to attempt to predict.

I was at the track today. I ran my 6mt and best I did was 14.5 @99. The 350z at the track ran 13.9 @ 110. Now it was my first time there but the point is any cacr can run differently at any time. The G just takes the 350 to a new level (for me).

Forget the magazine tests- they're flawed and that's that...Drive for yourself and come to our own conclusions...
As far the Z being the next boy toy, I completely disagree...Just because manufacturers have slapped stickers all over their vehicles doesn't make them rice- they need to advertise what's under the hood, etc....If it wasn't for the Z, the G Coupe wouldn't be here, and neither would the limited number of performance upgrades...My 30+ friend has a Track model and he's no ricer...The Z isn't a Civic- not just anyone can finance, lease, or buy one...I love the G, but I love Nissan's performance heritage and the 350 has brought the Z car back...

It was just an opinion. Look how many young kids own the G...even more own the Z since it's cheaper. Ruining it, but that's just my opinion as I said. I didn't say all Z owners are ricers, of course they aren't. Anyway, sorry I posted what I posted. Whatever.

Again, in regards to the M3, i want to specify AGAIN, that it was an E36 M3 that i raced and NOT THE NEW ONE! OBVIOUSLY the new M3 wiht 333 horsepower will blow a g35 away. i am well aware of that. And if u note, i raced him 4 times, so its not like i got lucky and beat him once.
And i wasnt trying to say that the g35 will always beat the 350z. i was just trying to show everyone that it's possibe. In my opinion, it is 100% a drivers race, whoever is the better driver will win that race. and i def agree that the 350z is one mean sports car and is certainly not a "ricer mobile". Anyone who says different is just straight up wrong.

Oh plz .. Kids driving a car ruin it? Where the heck do you live man? I'm 16.. I hope I don't ruin it too eh?
The Z series has been a classic for a long time, no kids driving it will ruin it. Some of my friends drive M3's and CLK430's .. does tht ruin those too?
The track options 350z is still 34k keep in mind.

I won't even bother to explain about kids driving these cars. I'm sure you can figure it out. 16...what did your parents get you the G? I personally think you shouldn't drive what you can't afford yourself. =P does that turn your ****?

It turns my **** that you say that, dude. I'm 19 and my parents pay for my leased G35C. Do I deserve it? I don't know, but I sure as hell appreciate it. I never give my parents any problems (I don't get drunk or high or do any other drugs), I get good grades in college, and I am a pretty conservative kid and everybody likes me.
I love my G35C 6MT sooo much, I take better care of it than 90% of G owners out there...it is garage-kept, I always warm it up properly, I wash it once or twice a week, and do all the other required maintenance checks (tire pressures, oil level, etc.) very often. And I'm not some scruffy kid using the car to show-off or to get girls...I love the way it looks and I love the way it drives. When people ask me about my car I just shrug and tell them "I love it" and that's it...I don't go around speaking so highly of my car. I know what I have and I really appreciate it.

My response was aimed at someone else, not you. I know there are young, responsible people out there. I just go by statistics.
