Re: S4 No More

My cousin is getting the 2004 S4, on order arriving in DEC. It will be a monster of a car. We will be car pooling because we both work for the same company and we both have the same pay. He will be paying $300 more per month for his 60 months loan, SO ON A MONTHLY BASES I WILL BE HAVING 12 MORE LAP DANCES THAN HE WILL, OH YEAH !!!!!!!!!

Re: S4 No More

LoL. I've never heard someone use lap dances as a comparison to how much less you would be spending! Truely classic!!!

I know the fleet manager at my local audi dealer and as soon as they have a new S4 on the lot that isnt already bought, he is going to let me have the keys for a little spin. He never even rides along. Just throws me the keys.

I would love to try out a 4 wheel drift at the traffic circle here in Long Beach. My car is great at drifting, but with the S4's power, it would be off the hook!

I may let RedRok8 drive it too. If he is lucky.

Old S4s are fast car. I've seen some lightly tuned ones that smoked the E46 M3. No doubt they can also beat a stock G. But...how much does an old S4 cost? I bet it cost few grands more nvm the cost of the lightly mods. With that few grands of mods into the G...the S4 would be looking at G's sexy a$$.

Those new S4's are gonna be sweet.. 4.2L V8, 5 valves per cylinder, 340hp, 302lb-ft. But, no turbo from the factory.. so no cheap chip mods this time.

Yea, Audi should’ve at least used the 4.2L bi-turbo engine from the RS6 but slightly detuned to about 400HP to keep it from competing against the RS6 but stay ahead of the M3, C32, etc. But no, Audi missed this time

Re: S4 No More

From what I have heard Audi will be going away from Turbo all together. I believe this is because it has become so popular for people to chip and up the boost on those cars. As a result there are mucho warranty issues depending on the dealer. This will also result in a car that is not as easy to squeeze lots of HP. So they will have to deliver NA cars like the new S4 with NA V8 to compensate for their sport sector. I'm sure they won't get rid of the turbo completely thought, . Peace

They will be using the bi-turbo 450+ hp 4.2 V8 in the upcoming RS4. But no mere mortal will be able to afford that beast, just like the previous generation RS4.

Its also a 7 year old design though.

But if you look at the interior, its still top knotch compared to most cars out there.

Here is the RS4's interior.
380 horsepower @ 6100-7000 rpm
Torque 440 Nm @ 2,500 to 6,000 rpm

They will eventually be fazing (sp?) out turbos in most cars but they will be turning to their FSI direct port injection which they use in the Audi R8 Le Mans race car which is by far the most advanced injection system on the planet. I'm going to miss the turbos though.

Re: S4 No More

I too am going through turbo withdrawl . I loved the S-4, but was afraid to get into another money pit with no warranty, previous car FD3S RX-7. I had a question though, I read somewhere (don't remember where) that boosted S-4's had tranny problems from launches. Is this true, or was I duped into reading some troll fodder?
Thanks,
Jay

The RX has left the building, I have been driving the G for about 6 weeks!!!!

Re: S4 No More

I bought the S used so the tranny was already notchy. After 2 1/2 years of driving 1,2 and 3rd gear syncos were just about shot. I have read many posts on several different forums stating this problem. 2 days with the G but its no S yet. I need more POWA
