Bogus Ticket ? Advice please

So i was driving last night,

I was going about 70 in a 65 and there was this stealth that kept slowing and speeding up kinda egging me on and like 1 min later this CHP pulls me over and tells me i was going 93

WTF !!!!

Well at that point i was scared to **** him off and get my car impounded etc, so I dont say anything, just tell him I am on my way home (which i was)
well he comes back and tells me He will give me a break and writes me a ticket for 85 in a 65,

I am positive i wasnt going anywhere near 85, and he could of easily clocked the Stealth or mixed me up with that car being late at night and no street lights and pulling me over about 1 min after that retarted stealth thing,

I didnt say anything, infact i was really relieved my ticket wasnt for 93,

IS there any way to fight this ? Is it wrong of me to want to fight it ?
What would my chances to get it dropped ?

it's your word against the cop's.... the court will unfortunately & obviously take the cop's word over yours, unless you have some incredible evidence to back up your claim

^^ Agree.

Take him to court and hope he does not show up so the case gets dismissed. If that fails talk to the judge and ask him for a lesser fee and no points, that seems to work most of the time.

Also, if you do not want to deal with it yourself you could try one of those ticket clinics. Pay them and they somewhow will work it out for you. I have used them in the past and they work well.

if you can afford a lawyer then go for it. You'll be amazed how can they get this dismissed on many technicality.

also you can take him to court and they will ask the last time that the radar was put into calibration and if is out of spec then you can get it dismissed

I had the exact same thing happen, and I went to court, with a passenger friend who was a witness. In my case the cop wrote down 10 mph more than he told me I was going, and I lost. The good thing is that if a judge sends you to class, it does not count as one of the five that you may "elect" in you lifetime (florida only?). The best thing you can do is delay delay delay. The longer you can postpone the court date, the greater the chances the cop wont be there. He may retire, transfer, get fired, or die on the job. Good luck.

I've had a similar situation. I pulled over since the cop was right behind me, but the car in front of me who was the actual car speeding pulled over as well. Keep in mind, I was going below speed limit. The cop let him go and I had to pay the other car's price.

I would get a lawyer (if you can) and state there was another car on the road going much faster than you, and the cop most likely made a mistake. They will probably give you a non moving if your record is clean.

look into "written trial by decleration" most cops do not go through these @ the end of the day and 98% of the time the cases are dismissed. my friend has an 01 z06 and he was caught doing 108 in a 65. three weeks later he found out his case was dismissed. also chp is certified in estimating speeds and it always holds up in court. so asking to see radar or evidence of this matter wont work.

go to court and hope he doesn't show up, and if he does and loses just request for traffic school. or try to request for a trial by written declaration so you don't have to show up to court and maybe haver a higher chance of winning (just write them a one page essay...that's what i did)

Was it radar, laser or him following you? Just wondering.
Either way you are toast.
