G35c Annoyances
Re: G35c Annoyances
Wow, I don't relate to your annoyances at all, cmay:
1. I think the trunk is easy to open, difficult to close without smearing your fingerprints on it. All you do is pop it and lift it with one finger from the bottom edge. Does the spoiler weigh 40 pounds or something?
2. I switch CDs from the steering column all the time, unless I'm going from #1 to #4. I can't even remember the last time I FF'd/RW'd within the same song on a CD. Why would you do that? You must listen to a different style of music than I do. Or is it one of those deals where they have 20 minutes of dead air on the last track? Maybe you can try recording it on a cassette, although I have no idea what the steering wheel controls do to those.
3. The analog clock is cool. And classy. Isn't it enough that the center console already looks like a damn Casio wristwatch? It has to function like one too? If a digital watch looks too cheap to put on my wrist, why would I put one in my car?
4. Explanation Attempt #1: The needle on a traditional compass always point north. It would confusing if you had the needle on the car's compass always pointed forward, which might cause some people to think they were always going north. Of course, I've never really looked closely at the compass because I have the Nav, so that explanation may be total nonsense if the needle sometimes points in other directions.
5. AM stations buzz because of their signal, not because of the speakers. That's why the better stations, music stations in particular, use FM. Try tuning it a degree off or turning down the volume.
6. You could stick coins in the ashtray, which has the benefit of being easily closed and hidden. I hate seeing loose change sitting out there when I ride in someone else's car, especially when you hit a bump or take a hard turn and it flies all over the place. Then again, I probably drive on a toll road no more than once every 3 months, so I wouldn't appreciate the convenience anyway.
7. Why does the Sedan need exit assist? As for seat memory, who are you letting drive your car other than you? I have never used this feature on any car that I have ever owned. Glad I didn't have to pay for it.
8. Not sure what you're talking about, but then I've never tried to downshift more than 2 gears at a time. I'll experiment with mine.
9. THIS I agree with. Those seatbelt extensions are not well designed.
10. This I agree with too. Other than the cup holder, the rear centerpiece is pretty useless and doesn't look good, and I would never let people have drinks that could be spilled in my car anyway. I've found the secret compartment underneath useful on occassion though. Someone on this forum actually replaced it with a cushion that matched the leather perfectly, making a fifth seat of sorts. Wasn't unreasonably priced, as I recall.
11. There is indeed quite a bit more space under the center compartment. I've looked underneath. On the other hand, I think the compartment is pretty big, especially compared to the storage areas of my previous cars. You can even velcro the first aid kit underneath the lid. If it was any deeper, you'd just be piling stuff on top of stuff, which would make you a danger on the road whenever you had to rummage through it. And since I plan on running some cables underneath the center compartment for my CarPC, I appreciate the extra working and hiding space, although I'm sure I'm in the extreme minority on enjoying that feature.
12. The only problem I have with the NAV joystick is that it's on the wrong side of the console, like most of the other controls. Other than that, I prefer it's cleanliness to a touchscreen, and it's look to a Nintendo. I find the letter guessing feature a time saver in the long run. If you're consistently having trouble finding a place with two of the same letters back-to-back in its name, why not just put it in your address book? How often does that happen to you?
You seem to be a remarkably impatient person: Nav doesn't update fast enough, trunk doesn't open fast enough, gotta shift 3 gears at once, don't have time to figure out an analog clock, can't be bothered to listen to an entire song... what's up with that?

Re: G35c Annoyances
No complains besides the creepping noise when going over bumps. I'd take it to the dealer, but it's not bad enough to leave my baby at the dealer.
Oh, and one other complaint I have is that this car gets too much attention
. Other than that, I am very satisfied so far.

Re: G35c Annoyances
one more complaint...
clear corners are sooooooooo easy to steal...i ordered a pair of clear corner last week and someone stole it today(and guess what? i put them on today)... i had to order one again today... i better check out the used clear corner on ebay... from now on, i'm gonna change to amber whenever i park more than 30min in one place... and put it back clear corner when i comeback and drive... it only take 2sec on each side so... i don't wanna spend $80 again....

Re: G35c Annoyances
Since you have a Nav, just leave it up and look at its digital clock instead of the analog. It even covers up the analog clock.
As for me, I love the analog clock. The only problem with it is that it's a little too dim at night.

Re: G35c Annoyances
1) Trunk is hard to open, easy to close.
Go to the Gym
2) No FF/RW on the steering wheel controls.
If this is a big problem, perhaps you have ADD
3) Analog Clock.
Infiniti removed this from one car line a few years ago and got bashed. This is the Infiniti trademark that goes along with the logo. It is very mature and classy looking.
4) Compass.
You can shut it off.
5) Speaker buzzing when listening to AM.
This is why FM was invented
6) No change holder.
Use paper money
7) No exit assist / seat memory.
We have exit assist. Dont share you car if it is a problem
8) Downshifting not happening like it should.
The car will not let you do anything it feels will possibly damage the tranny.
9) Seatbelt "guides".
I have not noticed this problem with mine.
10) Middle rear area.
You obviously are not married and have not had to run into the drug store for an emergency tampon. The car has "bucket" seats in the back - what would you put there?
11) Shallow storage in middle compartment.
This is a sports car - what do you possibly need to store in the front of the car?
12) Navigation controls.
Only option I did not purchase as I know where I am going
I hope some of you might have some solutions to some of these, or know why some of these things need to be the way they are.
Aside from the things above, I wanna say I love my car. I have ever spent time just driving around, and now I am doing it all the time.
Do you really love your G?

Re: G35c Annoyances
There is a simple solution to the clear corners so it won't be stolen so easily. Look for the thread in this forum it's simple yet very effective.

Re: G35c Annoyances
I'm confused. How does moving your seat back help you get out of the car? Maybe I just don't understand because my seat is all the way back anyway.

Re: G35c Annoyances
vehemently?
I didn't mean for it to sound so bad if that is how it is coming across.
If there is something bad about a product, usually there is a reason for it. For example, the Nav system doesn't have a touch screen. Why? Answer 1: Touch screen costs more money. Answer 2: Touch screen could break easier. Both of these are reasons that I can accept. But when the designers were thinking how they were going to construct the nav system controls, they had to have a reason for picking a joystick and not a "nindendo control". The only think I can think of is that they wanted to have the "enter" ability, but you could get that with a better design too.
When the guys at infiiti were coming up with the look for the back seat, someone didn't accidentally add in a hard plastic center seat. A group of engineers and designers decided to put in that hard plastic thing, and I am just trying to figure out if there is a reason for it that I am not seeing. Why not just leave it leather like the other seats, or make it an arm rest?
There are reasons for these designs, it just kinda gets at me that I can't figure them out.
PS
I LOVE my car.

TrentaCinque,
The pic you attached isn't coming through.
If there is a computer stored in the middle console, then that is a prefectly good reason for not making the storage deeper. Exactly what I am looking for! Thanks.
