I really like my car, but I have some issues.

These are in to specific order:

1) Trunk is hard to open, easy to close. I would rather have it be easy to open and hard to close no? Most cars assist you in lifting the trunk.

2) No FF/RW on the steering wheel controls. If you want to skip ahead on your CD, you can't use the controls (AFAIK) on the steering wheel. Holding down UP/DOWN will skip to the next CD?!? How often do you want to skip to the next CD as opposed to skip ahead /backwards in a song? Seems dumb.

3) Analog Clock. I know some people think it looks cool, I think it's dumb. Everything else in the car has a digital reading, but not the time? Come on.

4) Compass. Anyone know why the compass does not keep your current heading in the middle? What I mean is if you are heading north, it could be one of these:

What is up with this design?

5) Speaker buzzing when listening to AM. Let me get this right... I pay extra for the Bose speakers, and they buzz? It seems to only happen when I have AM stations on... but still it is so annoying it makes me turn off the station some times.

6) No change holder. Only thing you can do is dump the change into the middle console's "coin shaped" depressions.

7) No exit assist / seat memory. The sedan get it, why not us?

8) Downshifting not happening like it should. If you come rolling into a turn and you shift to MM and click to downshift like 20 times, you will almost never get to 1st, usually you are still in 3rd, even if you are only taking the turn at 10mph. I think it just takes the shifting one at a time, and it takes so long to go from one to the other that it never gets down to 1st. In my dad's 300M you can do this all the time and it works as expected.

9) Seatbelt "guides". Whatever they are called, the things that are supposed to help the belt get around the seat or something. They are driving me nuts. They do nothing but rub against the seat and make an annoying sound with every little bump that I go over. They seem like they are supposed to be locked into a 90 degree position, but as soon as I do this (snap into 90 degrees) it clicks right back to rubbing against the top of the seat. Is there anything wrong with mine? Does everyones do this?

10) Middle rear area. What is the point of making that middle rear "seat" a hard piece of plastic with a tampon kit inside it? At least make it an arm rest or something! Is there a reason for it?

11) Shallow storage in middle compartment. Next to the driver, there is probably a lot more room there for storage, but they made the compartment super shallow. Why?

12) Navigation controls. Ok, I know a touch screen would be way better... but. If you are Infiniti and you have made the decision to NOT use a touch screen, then why on earth would you use a crappy joystick? Remember the old Nindendo controllers that had 4 buttons? Up down left right? Why not give us one of those so if you want to click over 3 letters it is a simple task instead of the dumb joystick jumping all over the place. On the same topic, I hate how the Nav system tries to figure out what you are trying to type in so when you have 2 letters back to back that are the same you can't just hit "enter" "enter", you have to hit enter, and then navigate back to the same letter you were just at! Argh. As a software engineer, it makes me wonder who the hell did the ui design on the nav system, because it is truly terrible.

Ok thats all I can think of.

I hope some of you might have some solutions to some of these, or know why some of these things need to be the way they are.

Aside from the things above, I wanna say I love my car. I have ever spent time just driving around, and now I am doing it all the time.

 

Ive had a lot of problems with change falling out of my pockets while driving and into the cravace between the seat rail and the center console. This is a place almost impossible to get to!!! AHH i want my money! LOL. I have the same problem with the seatbelt directors also... but you can't complain about too much otherwise you won't enjoy the car

The interesting thing is that I drove a "loaner" G35 Sedan and it operates differently. It instantaneously changes the selected gear. You can be at a stop and select 5th if you want (but the car will still go through gears getting up to that when you take off). You can tap-tap to go from 5th to 3rd without waiting for the tranny to comply. On the downside though, it always selects 4th when you go into manual mode from auto mode. I prefer the car stay in whatever gear it's in when I go from auto to manual.

1)c'mon man.. trunk is not as heavy as hood...i agree if you complain the hood but trunk.. 10year old girl have no problem opening...
2)are you talkin about skip track 2 and go to like 3? i have no problem with that...i don't get it how you skip to next cd? i wanna know that cuz when i tap my control on my steering wheel, it will skip a track and go to next one...
3)that's almost infiniti's mascot( i can't think of correct word) every car make has one of their unique design to use on every and next generation models... and if you have nav, problem solved...
4)i don't see a problem as long as compass tell you the correct direction... it's not that hard to read...
5)bose in our coupe kinda sux so... you are right...
6)put it in your pocket maybe?? or into the cupholder?

8)hmmm my car downshifts at right time and have no problem with it.. and when i tap twice quickly it will downshift 2gears almost instantly.. so check your dealer...

11)i don't use my coupe as stuff storage... only thing i put on my coupe is cd holders, digi camera(just in case) and manuals that's it no more or less

best solution - relax just enjoy your driving... rev it up and have some fun with it...

 

1) If you are carrying something to put in the trunk and dont have 2 hands to open it can be a pain. There is no where to grab on to open it either, which is probably the real problem. If there was somethinng to grab, other than the spoiler, then it's weight wouldn't matter.

2) If you want to skip from CD1 to CD2 you just HOLD the up button (the same button the skips from song 1 to song 2). On every other CD player ever made holding down the track selector is usually used as the FF/RW function, but I guess Infiniti wanted to be different.

3) Yea, the main reason I leave up the nav screen is just so I can see the time.

4) This isn't really a problem, more of a question. Why would they design it so that the NESW can move as well as the arrow on the bottom. It doesn't make any sense. If you had a real compass, the NESW would rotate, and the indicator would stay in 1 spot. It makes me wonder if that serves some purpose that I don't understand. Otherwise, keeping the indicator line in the same place would be easier to create.

9) Where is that thing (seat belt guider) in relation to the top left of your drivers side seat? Does the one rub the other.

So if you are sitting at a stop light you can actually shift up to 5th gear?

 

if you have spoiler then there is no problem like me... i guess i don't have problem cuz i have spoiler...

 

1. Engine belt broke
2. Brakes froze up and didn't work
3. Exhaust rusted out
4. Sunroof Leaked into car
5. Gas pedel spazzes out sometimes
6. Car wouldn't open, or start
7. Battery drain's and dies soo easy




Just Kidding....
I Just find it humorous how people complain so vehemently about such minor little things.... Mabye that is because the car is generally a GREAT car, no major problems...

1,2, and 6 really bug me too. Especially number 2.

1 - The trunk is tricky to open on the sedan especially now that they changed the design. You can grab the spoiler or you have to reach into the 1/2 inch crack that it opens. Another inch even would help. My wife's Taurus pops open all the way even, huh?

2 - Did anybody at Bose/Infiniti actually use the steering wheel controls? Morons. It is dumb being able to skip to next song or skip to next CD (by holding), but not able to scan within a song. I too tend to scan through a song a lot. What's really, really dumb though, is try using the controls on a tape. I just used a tape for the first time last week and guess what - you can fast forward or rewind with the steering wheel controls, but....YOU CAN'T STOP IT TO PLAY IT AGAIN!!!!

6 - A real change holder with springs to hold them in would be nice. I just use a cheap 'stick on' type from any car parts or any other store, but just throw it into the glove box. It rolls around once in a while, but it's OK.

Well all I do agree with is #9.
I'm 5'-6" so the seatbelt "director" hits the side of the seat next to my ear when I go over rough roads or bumps.
My simple fix to this.... Go to (homedepot, target, etc.) and buy a small piece of felt type tape (in small pre cut strips) that is used for furniture on wood/ceramic floors (the tape keeps the furniture from scratching the floor). The pre cut size is just perfect for the side of the seatbelt "director". So now it still hits the side of my seat, but is muffled by the felt tape. At target they had a beige/ grey color "tape" that matches he interior pretty good, so it is not noticible.

Well I can't complain too much but what I really hate is when something falls between the seat and the center console (under the seat controls).. it is near impossible to get it out after it swallows something.. thin remotes, garage door openeres, even keys once... took me 10 minutes to get my damn keys out of there before.. going under the seat is hopeless, there are a bundle of motors there.. and my hands are too big to fit in between the switches and the seat... agggg i dread every time i drop something down in there
