6mt = Auto in 0-60?

i just wanted to know if they auto was as fast as the 6mt or if there was a different? of course this is theoretically saying that the drivers of both the auto and the 6mt were of the same skill level and etc.. cuz i could have gotten a 6MT but instead i chose the auto for a long term kind of.. i'm getting tired of driving stick pov and i'm kinda regreting it.. haha

the auto is about .3 slower than the 6mt on the 0-60.. yeah you're in the same boat, regret very much that I didn't get a 6MT =( Thinking to trade in in 2 years, if the GTR doesn't come over by then =P

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

There is a differance between the two trannies as far as speed. For most mortal drivers whom are not professional racers it is probably minimal. I would say if you took to average drivers the differance in 0-60 between Auto and MT would be .3 of a second.

The published differance using professional drivers I believe is about .6 of a second or so. The AT in this car is great so I think you would be just as happy the AT. However a couple other things you might consider are: 1. If you want the High Performance Brembo Braking system, (I did), only the MT comes with that unless you go after market which is pricey.

2. The MT is a "low production" vehicle which can help it's value later down the road because of rarity. 3. If you want to heavily mod the vehicle the MT not only takes better advantage of the mod's but will be more most likely hold up better as well if you do mod.

One other thing I might also mention is that there have been more than what I would consider a normal amount of 6MT tranny failures on the g coupe and the 350z (including one tranny failure in my coupe). Good luck.

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

i disagree some of it but basically your right...
i think if 6mt is average driver, then AT would win(AT can shift faster than average IMO)... and good driver will make about .3sec diff and talented driver will make .5sec or so...
and you could think low production as rarity = hard to find later therfore it will help value... but i think opposite way... rarity = no one wants it that's why you don't see that many... and i believe there are(and will be) enough 6mt when people lookin for 6MT later...ex. civics are everywhere and civic is one of most highest resale value all time but M45(i just used that cuz i just read a thread about them haha) very poor resale value it's not even funny... also i believe and hate to say this but word "infiniti" will not help resale value either... lexus no matter what you get, you get really good resale value but infiniti ..... also raity = more hard to find your exact taste... and other things are correct unless people are modding to 1k + hp then AT will be a lot easier to get best times... but brembo should be the main consideration to get 6MT.. i love brembo... the word "brembo" make a huge smile on my face...

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

well i just got the auto this weekend and i'm kinda regreting it.. but at the same time i see the g35 as a luxury car and that the 6mt will get kinda annoying in the long run. i've been driving stick my whole life.. i'm only 20 but for the first 4 years i went from a 2.5RS impreza to a wrx and now the g35. the reason i chose the automatic was because g35 is a luxury car no matter how you cut it, and with that said i think the auto is pretty good. the thing that makes me want to reconsider my auto is that the 6mt comes with brembos which i really like.. well the car overall no matter what tranny is still good imo.

Don't get a AT. No one ever regrets getting a 6MT. Whts the worse that can happen? You can't eat and drive or you have to put up it in traffic.

#1 reason. You control your car.
#2 reason. The brakes on the AT are pitifully small and cheap looking compared to the much bigger and sweet looking Brembo calipers.
#3 reason. CLUTCH PEDAL.
#4 reason. The shifter looks about 100x better. The AT shifter is so ugly for the G. The FX shifter for AT is a tad nicer.
#5 reason. No one regrets buying a 6MT. Why else would they put manual mode onto a AT? They know there are times we want to control the gears.

Dragon,

The brakes on the AT are awesome. Brembo's are better at stopping from higher speeds, and at track. For daily driving, the brakes on the AT are more than fine. Brembo's might look nice, but spray paint is always an option.
Shifter does look better on the 6MT.
I know there are many people who've had problems with their tranny in the 6MT.

All I am trying to say is to each it's own...

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

Why do things always turn into 6mt Vs. 5at? this is better, no this is better.. blah blah blah.....
Look, If you want full control of the car ie. for track and such the 6mt will give you better control. Th 5at is no "slow poke", if you drive in crazy traffic day in day out, then the 5at "might" be for you. the 6mt has better gear ratios suited for racing, the 5at is fun for racing as well. It's all what type of control you want out of the car. I have not looked back on my choice...

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

Problem is that people always want what they don't have. I bought a 6mt and don't regret it. I bought an AT Taurus SHO and regretted it. While yes there is only a .5 sec to 60 difference, the 6mt is way more fun to drive.

Re: 6mt = Auto in 0-60?

I sed the brakes were better looking, I did not imply anything about performance. I'm sure the stock brakes are great.

All I'm saying is, with AT there is limits, with MT there is none. Thts why no 6MT ever regretted buying one.
