My experience with Infiniti...
Hi all, you may be wondering what I am about to write to you. This is neither a rant or a compliment, it is a mere analysis of what I have experienced with Infiniti service.. So here it goes
I leased my 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe from the dealership in South Florida on October 14, 2006. The negotiations took some time but the deal was finally made on that day. About 950 miles later, the car started having the brakes sort of 'fade' and hit the floor. I would push the brake pedal and it would go down to the floor, and the car would stop, but not immediately.
I took it in to check the problem, and the guys at service took it right in, and in about 6 days I got it back. The delay was annoyingly long, as I was missing my car already. The manager said we will not see this problem again.
About 2600 miles in, the problem returns, this time even worse. The brake pedal goes down to the floor and the car doesn't FULLY stop. At this point I am outraged and I go in and make it a bit more personal. The manager of service came to me and assured me he will be taking charge of the testing to make sure it is perfect. Well, 3 days later we receive the call to come pick up the car. The manager of service came to me again to assure me that it has been fixed for good.
3650 miles now, and one day I am driving to a friend's house and guess what? The brakes fall in again. I go back home carefully, avoiding close traffic and speeds past 40, and call the dealership, which the service dept. was already closing. They said to bring in the car tomorrow. The next day I drove around the block and all of a sudden the brakes are working again, I felt that this is not really good assurance that it will stay that way, so I went to the dealership. I told them that the problem is intermittent this time, and they said they will check into it. A few days later, the guy calls me and tells me that he didn't find anything wrong with the car.
I tell him that the car has been having the problem come and go, and he said that if he doesn't find it, then it's like it's not there. This is where I really got mad. I told him to check it until he finds it and make sure he gets it done. The next day he calls again telling me he did 48 miles on the car but no find. I told him that I do not want to drive a LEMON and that I will discuss the issue to receive a new car now. He said this is not possible. I told him I will contact my lawyer, and something will happen.
After talks with the lawyer, talks with the General Manager of the Infiniti dealer, and talks with consumer affairs at Infiniti, they finally tell me the only thing I could do is a lemon law claim. They gave me the car back today without any further checking into the problem, and am now driving a car that could go bad on me at any time, and end me... I drive to college almost everyday down in Miami which is about a 40 mile drive on the highways. That's a dangerous place to lose your brakes, ain't it?
What's even worse is before this car I had a terrible accident with a 06 Mustang, in which a van pulled in front of me and stopped where I crashed into his rear, and I now have a scar on the side of my forehead. Anyway, I just wanted to see what you guys would do in this situation. Would you demand more action to be taken against the dealer or just stick with the car according to a non-trustworthy service manager that 'says' the car is fine, when it obviously is not? I don't know what to do anymore at this point.

that really blows man sorry to hear that. id keep fighting it if i were you. try taking it to a different dealership and see what they have to say. youd think infiniti would make sure the problem is taken care of so they wont have to deal with a big law suit later down the line. especially since they would be at fault. definately keep fighting it though.
sidenote: i had an 06 mustang too but decided to trade it in for the G, never regreted it since

for one thing i find it rediculous that it took so long to fix ur car everytime my car has been in ive had it back that day and i had my engine replaced and they only had it 7 days and thast was because they were waiting for the engoe and ur waiting 6 days for them to fix ur brakes theyre gonna tell u they found no problem cause they dont want to have to give u a new car i would take it somewhere else and have them document the problem
Thanks for the replies guys. g35pat, I consulted that idea with my dad, and we called the lawyer and he said that it cannot be done, because they should not have any 'reason' to be held responsible because they themselves never documented the problem, as when they were testing it it did not happen. It's very sad, really, and pathetic of such a high-class car company to be doing this. The consumer affairs department for Infiniti is horrible too.
when you originally took it in, how did they fix it? what was the problem? reason why i asked is b/c i just got my car back few days ago from the dealership b/c i had the exact same problem. i had to leave my car there for 6 days and they bled the brake fluids thinking that there was air in the brake lines. well turned out that there was a leak in the actuator and now it's fixed.
Well, the first time that it happened they said they changed the master cylinder because it was malfunctioning. The second time though, they said there was air in the brake system just as they told you, and they bled it out and test drove it for about 25 miles. Funny how it feels like they try to hide something from us...

Your lawyer sucks ***, I would get a new lawyer who is willing to fight for you. 1. It was stated by the dealership that yes there was a problem with the actuator.
2. It is now documented that after the first visit to the service department there is now air in the brake lines for the second trip to the service department.
3. Now the third visit and I might add that every time you bring your car in for a problem it is documented on their service log unless no one looks at it. Mechanics have to document how much time is spent on servicing each car.
So, how in the hell does your *** hat lawyer say that there is nothing documented?
Here is a link to Florida's Lemon Law, I'm pretty sure after reviewing this you will have a better idea of what your next course of action will be. http://www.carlemon.com/lemon/FL_law.html don't let *** hat lawyers and ignorant service reps that don't know jack about cars tell you what you should be doing.
Keep your video camera in your car while you're driving so you can capture the times when your brakes don't function properly and show the stealership how much of a hazard it is to you, others around you, and their reputation.
